I recently "found" a beat up Marklin engine with tender that runs spectacularly but has a broken coupler. When I look at the truck on the tender (the coupler is mounted to the truck) it looks like it is held in by 3 plastic "rivets". Is there a way to replace the truck and coupler (or just the coupler) with a micro-trains coupler? any ideas? thanks Gordon
You can use a hobby knive and cut as little of the plastic rivet as possible, and push out the plate to expose the coupler. If you did it correctly, then there should be enought of the plastic to hold the plate when you put back. Then is just as simple as replacing the Marklin coupler with the Mtl coupler. The post use to hold the coupler to the tender is the same for the Mtl and Marklin. The only problem will be adjusting the height of the Mtl coupler. I hope this help. John
