    All,

OK, so I've just landed from Mars with a cargo hold full of old HO equipment and have parked the space ship next to a model supply house. As it's a Sunday, they're closed but as I peruse the place running from N scale decoder to decoder and realizing I can't tell a Lenz from a Digitrax, I see a note saying "ask somebody over on TrainBoard and see what they have to say".

So, if you had to start your DCC N scale layout TODAY, how would you go about it to avoid most of the problems and pitfalls in the future.

Basically I'm saying, let's do this right this time and spend the money correctly the first time instead of having to redo it and restart it all over again in a few months time down the road.

AD (why doesn't Xbox have a train simulator???)

Welcome to Trainboard. I suggest you download Tony's Trains DCC Primer. There's a lot of great info on this site, that's easy to read and comprehend. It will answer many of your questions.

There's a very good train simulator for the PC called "Trainz". It's by an Autrailian company. $20 at Circuit City.
