"Athearn has come out with BNSF in HO maybe they have in n also" And maybe Walthers will finally take N-scale seriously... personally, I wouldn't hold my breath, but Paul surprised me about the ALCO S2 so it yet might happen...
This car has been on my top-5 wish list for a while*. For what it's worth, Microscale makes a decal set for these cars. As a stop-gap, you could adapt them to the shorter ARMN reefer that BLMA and ExactRail offer, and/or try to kit-bash one from them. -Gary *P.S. #5 on my top-5 list was a modern bulkhead flat, which ExactRail recently anounced. Sometimes good things come to those who wait. Just don't hold your breath while you're waiting...
I've seen an HO car for the BNSF cars, but it was done for BNSF and not for sale. I would bet on BLMA personally doing them.
Like Gary, these are on my top 5 list. (along with Carbon Black hoppers, 48ft spine cars, CoilCARe cars, and 52ft corrugated-side gons...which may be coming soon if the rumors are correct.)
Well, since Doug slipped his top-5 in there, I'll do the same. We share 2 items on the list: 1. Trinity or NSC 53' well car (single or articulated) 2. Trinity or NSC coil steel car (now unlikely because of the similar - but just different enough - Atlas car) 3. BNSF 82' "icicle" reefer 4. TBOX 60' box 5. Trinity cylindrical or ribbed 2-bay cement hopper. #5 used to be a modern bulkhead flat, but ExactRail is filling that need. I should have a Triple-57 TTRX spine set on there too, but that would be cheating.
One thought....you might not even need the airbrush. Since painting the BLMA model with the BNSF scheme is foobie anyway, why not just buy one of the new CEFX releases that BLMA is doing (completely white, no logos) and apply the decals to that. You could either remove the reporting marks or simply leave them....BNSF returned some back to Trinity in 2001 and they were relettered for several leasing companies. Not sure about CEFX but hey it's a foob anyway so why not? Having said that, there have been some pretty strong insinuations that someone will be doing the BNSF version more sooner than later.
