Does it list every railway in the world? I don't know this book.

    Welcome aboard!

In the past, I've seen a Jane's version about navy ships. But am unfamiliar with a railroad publication from this source. What sort of coverage is contained in it's pages?

The company from which I retired used many Jane's products over the years. We found all those products to be extremely well researched and equally thorough information sources. Although we never had the occasion to use Jane's World Railways, I am sure that it is equally the excellent product as those many with which I am familiar.

One word of warning...Jane's is considered the gold standard for each industry that they cover, i.e. they ain't cheap!!

I'm surprised that this book is so little know -perhaps it is produced more in England than America. However, it does have over 100 listing of railway sytems from around the world.
The pages contain fine detail of such things as breaking sytems, rolling stock, diesel engines etc. you name it and I'm sure it will be in there. There are also advertisements by the people who produce such things. The book is very heavy containing over 800 pages. I would have thought anyone who dabbles in model railways would have one to make exact copies of trains etc. Yes they are very expensive, but this one starts bidding at £5.
