Well sort of. I got to run our little 25 ton centercab at the museum yesterday. Hopfully I will be able to take all the safety tests and stuff soon so I can get some more time in on running. If youre interested you can view the pics of some of our equipment at http://community.webshots.com/user/bigmike375 ....Mike
I can remember the first time I got to tug on the throttle of a steam locomotive Mike, and I know what a thrill you felt by doing the same. I assume that your 'center-cab' is a diesel? Is the 578 a 4-6-2? By the looks of the interior shot there has been no additions of engineer side sight glass. Also, I don't see any gauges or lagging on the boiler. Is this locomotive not operational? Thanks for the URL. It was fun to surf around in there.
Hi Bill, No the centercab is an electric loco. Its a lot quieter than those DIEsels. We have a 45 ton unit too that I also ran briefly, That one will coast for miles. The 578 is a Pacific type, that is curently not opperational. Wouldnt take too much to get it running though. The guages and such are in storage right now, and she did run for a number of years without the boiler laging. Hopfully I will be able to get a few more pics up soon....Mike
