..So, I'm posting tunnel shots. I wanna see yours, too! Tunnel 7, on a brilliantly-lit late winter morning:
"is it safe to come out now?" Power of an e/b stack train is just now exiting the east portal of Hermosa Tunnel on the west side of UP's famous Sherman Hill grade. Ahead on its climb up is Dale Jct., Dale, Hermosa and the summit at Sherman.
That's just like the ultimate preditor, sneeking out of a hole Sorry, I have not seen any tunnels in this part of Tejas. BTW, nice photos!
Only tunnel I know of is the DART light rail line as it leaves downtown Dallas & heads north for about a mile and a half- on the north end the Red Line splits off for Plano, while the Blue Line goes toward Garland. When I worked at Baylor, I would ride this line from PArker Road into downtown and transfer to a DART bus for the rest of the way to work.
I have a Pentrex Tehachapi vid, and I like it very muchly. Would like to visit the Loop someday. Coal loads eastbound at Tunnel 27:
Tunnel 19, Soledad Canyon on the former SP Saugus Line...now Metrolink Valley Sub...about 30 miles north of Los Angeles. This shot was taken in 1983
Needle's Eye Tunnel, from below. On old Denver and Salt Lake grade over Rollins Pass. Before Moffat Tunnel constructed. The obvious......Moffat in Winter!
Keith, Who's that goofy-looking guy ruining your picture to the right? Oh, yeah, that's ME.. Doh! D&RGW's Tunnel 19, with an approaching BNSF DENSTO manifest:
From Winter Park, last time I rode the Ski Train. Looking East, into Moffat Tunnel: A little closer: Gottcha:
