Great crummy pix, guys. Seeing Espeeman's post about Castle Crags, CA, I went looking for still photos from there and can't find any. Got lots of video. The railroad motel just south of Dunsmuir is a "must stay" place for any railfan. All cabeese, from many lines, including Erie (long way from home), all decked out with modern conveniences like comfortable beds and inside plumbing, TV etc. The diner is a real diner, and the food is excellent. One of the best meals I have ever had on the road. Then for you eastern fans, again, no still pix, there is the Caboose Motel just outside of the depot in Strasburg, PA, and the Strasburg steam trains run past it all day. Many cabeese, again decked out like the one in Dunsmuir. They even have one painted in Lionel colors! Another diner setup, good food there too.
Now where did I see that same car. Oh yea, on the same train several days later. [ March 03, 2006, 01:15 PM: Message edited by: Stourbridge Lion ]

There are many excellent pix of the exteriors of cabeese, but I don't see much of the insides. So, here are two views of New Haven NE5-class, number 627. The conductor's "office." The complete heating and cooking system.
Well, D&H #35701 was not in that good of condition when Mr. C Overton put her up for sale and sent me several photos that were being used as part of the sale in January 2001.
Darren, It's sad to see old frinds go... Double trouble!! UP 844 and a bay window caboose! On a happy note, this caboose is where Sherman Hill Model RR Club usually meets... ...Well, when it's in the roundhouse. The historic UP depot, roundhouse, and steam shops are all visible in the background.
Another one from the Library of Congress. C & NW RR, putting the finishing touches on a rebuilt caboose at the rip tracks at Proviso yard, Chicago, Ill.
