If one day only, I doubt long distance trucking would help. I'm thinking the greatest effect, unfortunately would fall upon short lines and regionals. Boxcab E50
Just wondering what the responses will be at the city, provicial and Federal level up there.........not being Canadian and admittedly ignorant of their political workings. I know we haven't had much in the way of rail blockades since Greenpeace and other "green"-type radicals chained themselves to rails, stopping shipment of certain materials. That was solved by law enforcement en masse, with bolt cutters. Wonder if there may be violence, or would cooler heads prevail? I would hope the latter happens.
I don't know. These things are almost never simple, and the politics and history of a situation can get so complex that anyone who thinks there is a simple on-off, black-white, yes-no answer is fooling him/herself. I would need more information before I made up my mind on this one one way or the other. I would want to know both what demands were being made and then would like to know what the Conservative response to it was, and then I would make my own decision. There's way more complexity to most issues than most of my compatriots are willing to admit anymore. I think I am going to go run some trains now.
Today's the day. Looks like rail service is shut down between Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa. Highways are blocked as well apparently. Charlie
No kidding? Of course I can't find anything regarding this on American News... Keep us posted charlie!! John
And if I as a 'tax paying Canadian citizen' blockaded a highway and or railway - I'd have a laser bead trained on my forehead so fast by a SWAT team your head would spin. Rules for one but not the other.
Thanks for the link Charlie. Sounds like a reall mess up there and I hope they can get it resolved with no one being hurt. John
