For the past year+ I have been waiting on Micro-Trains to release their Gunderson Husky in a BNSF paint scheme. Last week when Jeffrey White was visiting we talked about the new BNSF logo and intermodal rollingstock. That's when I had a brain cramp, I mean a brain storm! BNSF "Swoosh" Husky's! Since I never get more than "Good things come to those who wait!" from Joe D'Amato at Micro-Trains on when a possible BNSF Husky will come out I decided to make my own! I stripped 7 of the least desired Husky's I owned (BN & CP) leaving me with near 50 TTX for future strippings. I Airbrushed them Dark Tuscan Oxide Red (Badger) and then created decals and printed them. I then gloss coated the sides, applied the decals, and then flat clear coated them. I had to paint the ladders and air tank/brake wheel also. After drying, I assembled everyting and now I have 7 BNSF MTL Husky's! Take a look! What do you think? Comments are Welcomed! If time permits in the future, I will probably re-paint some of my TTX Husky's to BNSF "Swoosh" too! I ran into some problems with the decals so I will have to revise them for better visibility. Nothing I can't resolve! Just takes time! Enjoy the photos! Hobo Tim
I have too many BN and TT cars myself, and those cars look so nice I would'nt mind doing some like them. -Robert
Tim, WAY too much time on your side. Looks great. Ain't grand that boombaddabing you can have what you need? I have to get more time !!! And money too.
Actually.................... Actually, when I look back on re-painting the Husky's, was really no one point in time that took up any great amount of time, well, except the creation of the decal artwork. All the rest was done in small intervals. I placed the 7 Husky's, without plastic details, trucks, and couplers, in a jar. I then poured about 2 oz of PollyScale's ELO (Easy Lift Off) and put the lid on. I'd spin the jar causing centrifical force on the metal husky's. This spinning coated all surfaces with the ELO. Then, a day later I took the lid off and brushed the husky bodies to remove the residue paint. Washed them and set them to the side to dry. made some test spots with paint to see which was closest to the real thing. Found it, Badger Dk Tuscan Oxide Red. Next day I made sure the airbrush was in tip top shape. All parts needed were present and clean. Next day I airbrushed the 7 husky's in about 30 minutes or so. Put about 4+ lite coats of paint on till full coverage was accomplished and let dry overnight. Next morning, Saturday, I printed decals, and placed them on the Huskys and then clear coated them. Later on I re-detailed them with the original plastic parts, trucks, and couplers. Lastly I brush painted the red plastic detail parts the Dk Tuscan Oxide Red. Finished! May seem like a lot of work but I broke it down throughout the week. Little here and a little there! Hobo Tim
BNSF decals Robert, when I finish tweeking the decals, I'll email you the program. You can print them off for your Husky's! :lightning: Hobo Tim

Tim, what I would like to see more then anything else is handrails similar to the ones of FR. I thing it would enhance the looks of the Gunderson well car.
TNT'z Advertisement Husky! Just wanted to post a photo of my TNT'z Advertisement Husky I painted. It has a white enamel undercoat to bring out the bright enamel fluorescent orange paint I painted it. Looks alot better than what this photo shows. A real eye catcher! What do ya think! lane: Hobo Tim
Well, it sure its a eye catcher. I am sure it will attract customers. I am still trying to get a match on that CSX intermodal blue. keep making those great decals,
