    Tim,

On the trailers, yes, yes, and yes for me too. Especially the 53's.

Also, any chance on some CSX Intermodal decals?

Many thanks for all of your fine contributions so far. I'm sure that we are all looking forward to your upcoming releases!

Thanks Randy- You know I have my own BAD Burt stories and that "might" even be my Ottawa- [IMG]
He never returned several of my original 20', 40' 53' containers! Blue prints or yard gear. ( I made all my containers years before Marklin came out with their doors on the side containers)
A 600' containership-- letz do it- that's a lot of containers-- Make her a pretty ship like MITSUI-OSK with the house midship- not those huge and ugly stemwinders.
Originally a shipping company built a ship and used only their own containers. ( Like Evergreen and Sealand) Then the shipping companies on a liner service would pool their ships and container capacity. We could have fun mixing the Allegator and all the colorful containers. Need Containers-- I got em. We are going to keep Tim busy making decals.
My favorite train is 2 -9's, - Santa Fe of course- and a long string of Gundersons. Even have the 53's on top.
letz sea, a 600' ship would be 32+" in Z.
Do you want to try a Panamax?
You are into lgb too- Now that's a big ship!
    Best,
    Fred

Fred, with the ship, now you have a good reason for lot of containers. Just post some pictures when you finish.

I am sorry about losing all your work. The problem is there are so many good people in this hobby that you can let your guard down. I hope this doesn't stop you from making copies of your work and make it avairlable to others.

Sounds like a Marine Loading Terminal is evolving into a grand plan. I can see it now, all the people hogging around the Marine Z scale module at all the Train Shows. Wow!

My idea of using Google Earth's satelite program to view railroad yard can help in this application also. Bound to be many a marine terminal in operation on Google Earth!

Containers! I am there! Decals for containers! I am there too! Just need to let me know how I can help!

Yard Mule on ebay! I saw it and have been hankering to get one just to see what it's real size is. GHQ use to make a yard mule "Ottawa" in white metal but have discontinued it long ago.

I will probably get one, but not sure.

    Time Will Tell!

Today, while surfing, I found a yahoo group solely dedicated to Intermodal modelling. :D I joined and was approved. Some pretty neat files and photos. Here is the link for those who wish to join.

    Check it out! [IMG]

    ******** Tractor Trailers*********

If you had your choice of one length of trailer, what length would you feel most comfortable with riding on top of Alan Curtis' 89' Flat Cars or his 5-unit Spine cars?

My guess would be 48' for the Spine cars. Depending on how you configure the 89' Flats, you can place three 28' or two 45' on each flat or configure two 89' Flats with a drawbar to make a "Long Runner" able to carry three 53' trailers.

    So, the choices are 28', 45', 48', or 53'

Reasons for asking: I have contacted a friend about the possibility of producing at least one size of trailer in "Z" scale using his Acrylic RP machine. I have yet to hear a reply, but eager all the same to get a project started.

So, if you have any preferences for a certain length of trailer, please post a message with the length and the reasons why you want that size. I will use this info to help convince my friend.

    Thank you for your replies!

As I was catching up on messages from an intermodal model group, I read that Heljan has made a fully DCC container crane. It is far from "Z" scale, but the folks in TT, HO, & OO will have something to play with!

I think someone calculated it to cost near $800 USD. Would be a trip if I could DCC my Mi-Jack! :D

That Crane is pretty neat. For some reason it doesn't seem to show up on the English language part of the site.

There was a motorized (not DCC'd) N scale version at one time.

Tim is your crane fully positionable?

The only thing that is operational on my crane is the containers can slide to any position across the gantry.

I have been, however, thinking about scratchbuilding another Mi-Jack. The next one will have more moveable parts. Perhaps even fully functional, if I can pull it off!

My Mi-Jack is a unique piece of equipment. [IMG]

OK, I fixed your pics, and now that I am looking over them, they look fantastic! But I did not expect any less than perfection from you anyways! [IMG]
