Alan, I "poured the cement" last night for the intermodal yard. The area between the tracks is great! The rest of the area is good, but not as smooth as I would like. I plan to do some fine sanding to smooth it just a bit. Overall, I'm pleased. Thanks for the advice and pictures. The pictures of your really got me going. I'd post some pictures of mine, but not sure how and the process sounds intimidating.
Scot, can you take pictures, and scan them, or have a digital camera? You could email me the pics, and i could put them on a website and post them here.
Alan, I have access to a digital camera, so I will take pictures and email you. THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
CN Intermodal I'm impressed Alan , you got a awesome set up . I know nothing about model railroading , I'm into real railroading , but from looking at your photos you do a good job I would love to see some CN stuff if anyone has photos to share . Thanks!
Hey Alan, I went on a search for your old intermodal yard........I found the thread but the pictures are MIA. Do you still have pics of your former Intermodal yard??
That sure would be cool to see the pictures. Stupid red 'x' in the white rectangle. Help? Now even quotes or some smilies are showing up in URL code. Seeing the pictures might help with my intermodal yard planning.
Hey Steve- What are you looking to do? Maybe I can lend a little advice. Or take a peak at some pics I put up of my intermodal yard. http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=82394&highlight=Corwith
Steve, Be advised that this topic is from about six years ago. The link for these pictures is no longer actinve and Alan no longer has copies of said pictures. That is the reason for all of the x's and dead links.
Oops, forgot to look at the dates. Alan's first post is from 2001. GoSteelers, I want a major classification yard with a two track intermodal unloading/loading facility, so not a very big intermodal facility. The yard needs to be switchable, however, allowing traffic from ATSF, SP, UP, and BN. BN trains will be mainly coal drags, so they wouldn't stay in the yard long. Crew change maybe. The yard would be similar to Hobart Yard in LA, except not that big. We're talking maybe a 9-10ft. x 3-4 wide with main lines of SP and ATSF on one side, UP's Double Track main with BN trackage rights on the other side in front on the facility.
Sorry the pictures are no longer available. I do not appear to have them anywhere, after a house move and two computer changes. I have been through three different layouts since that one, in two different scales.
