So last night my brother and I decided to tweak on my tunnel motor in preparation of our clubs upcoming open house this weekend. Enter the dreaded Mr. Murphy and say hello to one smoked nce N121A0-E.

Has anyone attempted to install a digitrax DN163A0 in one of these? I did some searching and ran across a few comments that this will work if you don't mind modifying the led. I have no problems with the led mod, and this is the only decoder I can get locally.

Any and all advice, suggestions, or comments are appreciated.

I have not put it in a SD45T-2 but I have ins SD40T-2, I believe there are no differences in the mechs. The only difference that I know is that the front LED is short compaired to that of the NCE or Digitrax decoder made for the locos. I came across a great article about putting a cab interior into the T motors and they use the short decoder and fiber optics. I am planning on this for mine or sound (still undecided about that)
I have the info that I copied from the web site but must have forgotten to bookmark the page. I did not find the page with google or I would post it.
    Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and got the DN163A0 and it installed fine. I did have to file the bottom of the front led flat and then I made a light tube. I actually like this better as it doesn't flood the cab with light now.

If you happen to find the page about the interiors, please post it. I'm always looking for information on how to improve these little guys.
