Wow, Torsja, You've got some great photos there, Thanks!

It will take me all day to wander through all the links as well.

Thank you very much for posting the photo of the smoke generator equipt steamer. There was just a discussion of that over on the Z_Scale list.

The 9th photo down, "Geseke_8", Manfred's garage, is that really a Corvette!!?? Where did that come from?

    Thanks,
    Randy Smidt

I got this info fom the z_scale list, Bill H. says the following about the smoke generator:

    This needs further investigation.

This smoke generator has been available for many years, I had contacted the person who installs this in the loco and he usually only installs them in your loco and does not sell the generator by itself. Also the smoke generator must not be run without the oil and because of the size not much oil can be put inside the generator. I looked at different smoke generators but the size for Z is really small, unless some one comes up with a newer technology we may not have any choices.

I would like to have one on my Mikado. Too bad they don't sell the generator seperatly. It must be a custom homemade device.

I bet we can make a smoke generator ourselves using a small wirewound resistor or some fine coiled nichrome wire?

Of course, sound would be nice too!

I went to my first train show today. I knew what to expect, which is mostly HO and N scale stuff. There was also G , O scale, and one guy had couple Z scale stuff. Needless to say, I spend all my money on magazine and books. Its a good thing I din't go to Geseke, because I probably go broke buying stuff.

Sure, Robert! Making a smoke generator with a wire-wrapped resistor or nichrome wire sounds like a creative project. Adding sound will be the icing on the cake. DIY solutions can often be rewarding and unique.
