This question is for the staff. Is AI or chat bot taking over our messages and auto correcting them somehow? I just spent an hour posting a message and then having to edit it for various grammar issues that were not my fault. And the bigger problem is, if you’re in the midst of writing a post and then get out for any reason and come back, it’s as if some type of editor has gone in and changed a few words. And not for the better either. Do we know if the forum has accepted or implemented some type of editing program or has something new been inserted into the system? I’ve started to notice other postings on the Z-scale forum as well where words are misspelled and phrases inserted that just do not seem right. GOOD GRIEF- a prime example is the subject line of this posting!!!! I did not miss spell the word “messages”. GOOD GRIEF X2 —- it’s even doing it to this message.
No AI stuff happening here. For good measure I did check our software add-ons and there's nothing that hasn't been there since we switched to this software several years ago. Also haven't noticed any increase in grammar or spelling anomalies in the forums but I'll keep an eye out for awhile. Cheers -Mike
I've not noticed anything resident within TrainBoard, but some months ago, Microsoft Edge began to suggest edits to my writing and it made me crazy. It resides under Settings/Language/Writing Assistance and I pulled the plug on it. You may want to see if your browser has a similar unwanted "feature".
Thanks gents, and I have not discounted the issue as being on my side either. I just noticed more issues in the past few days. Was just curious if others are experiencing anything as well.
On a rare occasion we will manually correct the title of a thread. Often from the OP requesting it. But also doing so aids the search engine, for those who are using it to find information. The only time content is ever touched, is by request.
I, for one, am fed up with Microsoft adding "features" in every succeeding Windows version anybody with any brains. at all. doesn't need or want. What''s with the 'Timeline" thing? I can keep track of my own actions and documents. And, there are many other "features" that are just pure nonsense/nuisance. Like the 2" wide "helpful" icons tnat show up when you open a file and it blocks the right side of the document.. Why is that the default? Silly. I imagine all that stuff can be disabled. I just haven't wanted to waste my time looking for how to do it. Microsoft needs to release two versions of each iteration, one with all the crap in it and one that's stripped down to the basics. People creating nonsense just to keep a job. Doug
I agree! If ever any company needed to trim down, these folks would be good candidates for excess removal.
I think a lot of this nonsense is brought to users as "security updates" and while that is likely true, it also brings the unwanted feature bloat described here.
Yep. fully understood as well and thus far I’ve never had issues posting anything. It was just that one incident and not sure what was really driving it. Although I do use my iPhone for some postings just like this one, and it seems to work just fine. but I’m sure there will come a day when AI or Chatbot or whatever ridiculous thing they’re imposing on us next, will turn these forums into a nightmare. We can only hope they leave a good thing like TRAINBOARD alone,
Given the immense power of Facebook and other social media, its a testament to the Administrators and Members of TrainBoard that this forum remains strong. I've not looked elsewhere for membership; it'd be tough to top what I find here.
For about 3 months I have notices there's a lot of highlighted "misspelled" words. But the spell corrector and my two printed dictionaries show the spelling was correct. And the spell corrector doesn't change it. In my gmail account I get a lot - 200 per month - of corrections from Facebook. My Lord I misspelled "gmail". Twice!!!
