If you have to ask, you already know.

If you didn't bring it, you probably shouldn't take it.

Am I stealing from my employer by writing this on a company computer, after hours? Yes. Has every self righteous poster on this thread been a thief at some point in their lives? Yes.

I hope D, that this was just a bit naiveté on your part, and not your normal mode of thinking. You could be doing time over some scrap metal. Imagine the first job interview after jail:

"Do you have any felony convictions?"
"Yes-I did time for stealing bolts, nuts and other scrap metal from the railroad"
    "Next"

If your going to steal from the railroad, do it smart. Get an MBA and figure out how to steal the pension plan..oooooppss..already done. Take one light bulb out of each signal light to sell to the Chinese while leaving notes that you are only "trying reduce electrical costs" and save the RR money...oooooppsss...someone beat you to that one. Hmmmmmm.....become a RR board member and "engineer" the demise of a solvent railroad, throwing hundreds of workers out on their butts, while cooking the books to keep your own money and perks safe....nope...that's been done, too. Hmmmmm....maybe you have figured out the only that common people can now steal from the railroad.

If the Borg copyrighted my face, would I have to pay them everytime I looked in the mirror?????????

Simple question got a simple answer. Sometimes shock therapy is the best.

He wanted an answer to a question, he got one. Perhaps he'll think about it next time, and take only pictures & leave only footprints.

If he wants to get scrap metal, there's plenty of aluminum cans around to pick up & take to a recycling center. Good for the planet, good for his wallet, and still legal.

alright guys calm down, thanks to those of you who replied maturely... anyway i DID NOT know if it was illegal or not, it was a one time only thing.. and i havent nor will i do it again, thats why i asked to see if i should or could do it again. For those of you who are getting really worked up over this chill, i understand it's a big problem and it's stealing now. Thanks for the answers, i searched google and found a train board to ask a train question, i don't plan on posting again to be honest because trains to me are nothing more than a means of transporting goods and people, although i encourage all of your hobbies :)
    Have a good day

Thanks for the follow-up and understanding...

Since those of us here are so very tight with the hobby we and the RR's have to have total respect for property and safety. There are also those of us here that are actual employee's and have strong feelings about this (as you are seeing) so please understnad their strong responce.

I hope you don't get a bad feeling about us, the hobby, and/or the railroads because this is actually the #1 hobby worldwide and maybe if you give it a chance you might enjoy it as well.

I believe that some folks are a little worked up, as such activity can reflect, poorly, upon us all. Thus, we feel somewhat defensive.

You'd only sell one to them, Mark. They'd take that one, pull it apart, reverse engineer it, then produce millions of copies! :D
