Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you can identify this as a ex NYC coach? At first, I was thinking it was a ex ATSF coach, but after seeing the black number board I have my doubts. This pic was shot on Sept 9, 1983 in Mahwah, NJ. The car was stored. The coach next to it was obviously from PC.

This the PC coach next to it.

Don, I don't remember black number boards on the stainless coaches. They were stainless with black letters and numbers; however, it has been almost 50 years since I last saw one. I do recall seeing pictures of later "Slumbercoaches" that had dark numberboards. Sorry I can't be of more help. When we rode the trains, it was usually in the old heavyweights on the local milk run. :(

On the top photo, the name plate area sure looks too short to handle "New York Central."
