I'm back -- had been camping for the last week. -- What a great vacation --- no cell phones, no interwebs and no hassles -- So, for this weekend - decaling the Lark will commence. Y'all have a great weekend, Wolf
Other than I need to make a few more trees since I wiped out my supply of them, I will be continuing to work on the Uintah Junction area. It is getting closer to completion. I need to add a few details like a shelter for the station, people, a few barrels, maybe some utility poles, and a hearse. Also the crossing needs help. Apparently the Blair line crossing I used is not code 83 compliant. I need to either make it thinner or grind down the ties. Good thing it comes with two to a package. Then I need to work on the trestle.
i built a workbench last weekend out of plywood I had in the shop, so this weekend I hope to get an hour or three to organize it. My oldest son turns 8 tomorrow, so that's pretty much an all day affair.
Haven't decided if this will even be practical - sometimes I do stuff just to see if I can. Here is a 3D printed "operating" pantograph I'm designing in N Scale. I currently have fixed pantographs that look pretty good on this model but some folks really want them to be able to go up and down... Here's the current iteration on top of a scrap shell - working on the final linkage on top this weekend! Cheers -Mike
Sounds like a good scratch building project is about to begin. I made a run to my LHS yesterday and stocked up on some scenery materials and will be continuing work on the scenery on the current 5ft extension of my home layout.
I might try to start on a scratchbuild of a station. I want to build one based on the Parsons, West Virginia WM one.
Between going to college football games and working on weekends, haven't been in the layout room much. I did finish a major lighting project a couple of weeks ago. This weekend I plan on starting masonite skirting. Last weekend I went to Lowes and Home dePOT and all they had was 1/8" stuff. I want 1/4" tempered hardboard and found some at a local commercial lumber distributor. They custom cut, so I am going in the AM. I've decided not to drop the facia so low that I can't get under it. I want it to look more like a clean narrow band than a skirt was it were. So it looks like a first stab a facia board this weekend.
