It's Friday once more and a Friday the 13th to top it off! Though Friday the 13th has long been a day considered by popular culture to be an unlucky day, I have found my results to be the opposite. So much for superstition. Onward!

Plans are some what simple for this weekends activities. With track work on the Potter Place side mainly done, I plan to do some foam terra forming and lay down the road that is old Route 4 now Depot St. I may also see what my elevation and ridge line will look like as this will act as a natural view block that divides the layout into two towns. Where the big train show in Springfield MA is only a few weeks away, I need to start a shopping list of things I need to purchase for the layout as both here in Jersey and home in Illinois does not have much in the way of hobby shops. That said, I only have a few weeks left before I go back home so some packing is in order.

So how about you? Plans for a structure kit or two? Locomotive work? Got to be some shows out there. Any of you plan on being at the Springfield MA show in a few weeks? Let us know your railroad weekend plans, model or full scale, and we'll return on Monday the 16th and share our updates.

    High Greens!

Good morning to everyone! I'll be back in the trainroom this weekend. It's time to pick up a sheet of 3/8 inch foamboard and begin laying the street-running girder rail in Mooseport. I'll be using the "Electric Avenue" parts from Proto 87. I've never done this before, so it should be an interesting project. It's only 2 feet or so of street running, but I might add some more if it comes out well.

Our Patriots are still in the Superbowl race, so I'll be happy once again that the layout is in the family room. I can model and watch football at the same time, surely a productive weekend.

I'll probably spend one day at the West Springfield show. It's only an hour and a half from home, assuming good weather, so it's an easy day trip and a great way to spend time (and money) for those of us who live here.

Well with another college semester underway that started this week, my free time will be taking a nose dive. I have more sheliving to put up just outside of my office / train room for staging that I hope to get done this weekend. I also would like to get more track feeders in place this weekend. I have been working mainly on my expanding my rolling stock inventory adding several new cars to the roster and working on locomotives. So this will also continue.

Progress on the layout will slow due both to college coursework and I need to shift attention to structure building to make sure that my existing industry tracks are good to go. Track electrical work and securing the track will resume once the strucutures have been roughed in.

    @ Matt,
Ouch, hope that heals soon and well.

As for me . . . I need to get my workbench unburied from it's "repurposing" as a Christmas Present holding, wrapping and assembly area before I get to much else. that's not a "modeling" accomplishment per se, but it will help with all the others. And my neighbor is bringing back my chop saw and stand, so I can get back to benchwork . . . .

Nothing major this week. I just started work on a couple of junk yards. I hope to add some bushes and weeds today.

I will be making a couple of new front edge profile boards for the mountain module on my clubs show layout. My clubs permanent layout has a shorting problem on some of our Atlas switches and I have to come up with a procedure to correct it.

I need to ballast a section of track I re-worked last week replacing a broken turnout. I also need to install some CI ground throws, and maybe work on some trees.

Working on my paper mill branch line with buildings, and trying my hand at weathering track. Also, just received package from Deluxe Inn. with Scratch/dent 53' trailers, so I got them to build too. Looks like I might get all 7 bodies to be good to go! Awesome deal
