Another week is almost done, and while some of us still have a full day of work to put in, you can bet we will be thinking of what we want to do with our railroads. It's time for Weekend Modeling Plans.

After the busy schedule of last weekend, I plan to take it easy and spend some time with the layout. I started running the track cleaning train last night and walked around with the Briteboy taking care of stubborn spots. I think I will work on the other side that is Concord and work on a few industrial spurs. No work on the two locomotive projects as I'm still waiting for a few parts. With the exception of taking my sweetheart out for a romantic dinner and one soccer game, I'm free to work on the layout. The next train show for me is in April so between now and then, I need to work on my two T-Trak modules. I love a non-scheduled weekend.

So how about you? Do you have a nice and easy weekend or a busy scheduled one? What are your plans? Track work, module work, detail work or running trains, let us know what your weekend entails. We'll come on Monday the 18th and see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend and...

I got a jump on the weekend last night by taking measurements and doing some engineering drawings (nothing fancy, not even to scale) for the benchwork required to support the carfloat apron and the float itself. Still, it will be a bit of a design-as-you-build project. This old picture shows the section of the layout where this will go:

The curved snap-track arcing down to the lower right corner has been replaced with street-running girder rail in cobblestones. Just about where it ends, there will be a 9-inch wye turnout heading straight off the edge of the layout to the carfloat apron. There will be a fixed benchwork extension about a foot long and perhaps 10 inches wide, ending with the apron. At the end of that, I'm planning a removeable section, or perhaps a swing-down, that will support the carfloat itself. The idea of the removeable carfloat was orignally to allow it to be used as a cassette for operations, but I also need to squeeze myself between the carfloat on the right and the layout section on the left, so being able to take it off for access will be a big advantage.

This weekend i'm going to put together some signal control boards for my T-Trak modules that I want to have working signals on. Some of them already have working signals on the outside track. Now that the testing is over I can install some on the inside track. I also have to build some trees for the museum layout I work on during the week.

NASCAR starts this weekend. :) Otherwise, I now have access to the dining table again, post-Holidays. So am hoping to "adjust" some track on one of my T-Trak modules.

Since my weekend is mon, tues, wed... I won't be starting until then. But I hope to have as productive time as this last week. I need to start getting some acrylic paints for the back drop. This past tuesday night my wife and I was able to trace the outline of mountains on the walls. Now to paint them up. Also need to continue building structure kits. Got three done last tuesday. Hope to add three more to the pile. Need to do a little wiring research for the turntable. Have the motor just need to see how it will work with DCC. I also have an AEM-7 loco that needs detailing and decals. Then just need to visit a hobby shop for two decoders, one for the AEM-7 and another for a P42 and then on to the next project. IF I need a change I can always take and program another decoder. Got two done last week. All in all a busy three days coming up starting monday. Gotta love it!
