The last weekend in March is here, spring is here, what are your weekend modeling plans?

Although I have not updated my layout thread for a few weeks, I have been busy working on the layout. I have spent a few nights this week casting rocks with Hydrocal. After some experimentation, I have found some molds that look like blasted granite. I will cast more and plan to add them to the layout. I'm also hoping to paint the track in this area as well as work on this section of the layouts road. If I have time, basic painting and ground foam will ensue. Sunday I will have to devote some time to packing. The date for me to move back home to East Central Illinois is only four weeks away, so out come the cardboard boxes.

So how about you? What kind of plans do you have this weekend? Layout work? Shows? Maybe some research on a new scratch building project? Let us know. Post your response below with pictures if you have them. We'll get together on Monday the 2nd and see how we all did. Have a great weekend!

    High Greens!

There are no shows scheduled for my club for the next month and a half, so I don't have to prepare modules for the trips. I will be back at the museum Saturday to do some more work on the wiring and possibly some scenery. I'm planning an easy and relaxing weekend

I am just going to keep slogging away with ballasting my track. I have to crush up more rocks for the ballast. Additionally, there is a track re-alignment in progress. The new alignment will allow for 1 more car length on the passing siding and add 1-2 car lengths in the yard.

I started decal work on my two Gettysburg engines. Just have to finish nose stripes tomorrow.

Focused on track planning currently. Luckily Marc (3D-Trains) has some very slick ideas to help capture the prototype and fit it into my space. I have hit an inspirational wall on my current layout and some prototype guidance should help keep the new layout moving at a better clip.

So it looks like only doodling here.

Over the next couple of weeks, I hope to spend more time riding trains than modeling them. We are in Florence, Italy, and we plan to visit Pompeii and Venice by train. This will be the first long-distance train I've been on since my first trip to Europe, 40 some years ago.

I am making a return to model railroading after a three year break. I dismantled my old layout shown in my photo album and will start a much smaller simpler layout.

This weekend I'll work on the track plan in XTrkCAD and maybe buy some bench work lumber.
