The fact that I just had to turn on a light to type this at 6AM, tells me fall is about here. That means more train time. The weekend is almost here, so what do you have planned to get accomplished this weekend?

For me, a quiet weekend before a few more shows. I have one last outdoor model airplane show next weekend and so some time will have to be devoted to that, but since our club has a show in nearby Decatur in three weeks, I'm planning to get some work done on my Maywood Station T-Trak modules. The bench is all cleared off and I have the scenery items ready to go, so I should be able to work a bit on two of the three modules. Milwaukee Trainfest is fast approaching so I really need to get all three modules done. Jared has two soccer games on Saturday but they are local so I won't have to spend most of my time driving or riding. The wait for track and roadbed on my N scale layout is still ongoing. So far I plan to spend an entire weekend in October to do the work, but that is fully dependent on supplies.

So how about you? What projects on your layout or module do you have planned? We are fast approaching the Model Railroad show season so let us know what you have planned, with a picture or two if you have them. We'll come back here on Monday the 9th and see how we all did. Until then, have a happy and safe weekend and...

    High Greens!

I know what I would like to do, but I think my wife has other plans. Even though it still feels like summer, there are some honey-dos that have to be taken care of before winter comes. Snowis a great excuse to go and hibernate in the train room. I have a few lits and buildings that I have been pecking away at, and that will probably be it for the weekend. While doing this, I have to figure out some way to attach an old manual turntable drive to a Walthers turntable. This should be a fun project. Any ideas will be welcome.

This weekend, I'll get the last of those tannery buildings put together. The walls are assembled, but I need to paint the trim (window sills and roof parapets) and install windows and some doors before assembly. Maybe I'll paint some roofs, too.

I think I'll use Hydrocal castings for the concrete pavement that will make up most of the interior of the tannery complex. I've got some tinted powder to mix with the Hydrocal to get a concrete color, so I'll try a couple of sample castings. Looking at the whole complex of 4 brick buildings, I think I will also add a scratchbuilt "wood" truck barn. I'll have to check on my styrene clapboard supply for that.

There is an HO laser kit sitting on my work bench, just begging for assembly. A neat little depot new to the market, which will be adapted to an HOn30 setting.
