Can you believe that November is half over? That next week is Thanksgiving in the US? Can you believe its time for Weekend Modeling Plans?

After a late Summer of countless hours locked in the work shop, building model airplanes, and busy every weekend going to airplane shows, soccer meets, trade shows and train shows, I realized I and more importantly, Angela, need a break. So I booked a weekend away from the area and the two of us are going to take some much needed time off with each other. That said, trains are still going to factor in this weekend, which either makes me maniacal, evil or selfish. Actually none of the above, as Angela does like the trains and has recently gone railfaning with me. She likes the disconnect, and looking for old artifacts. The weekend will of course be more than just trains but hopefully by Monday I'll more pictures to share of one of my favorite former places of the CB&Q. I also found out last night that our club has been asked to set up a layout at a nearby RR museum. I'll be working on my modules and seeing what needs to be done by next week on that subject. Work on my layout is set for mid next week, planing and track details were worked out yesterday.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend by way of trains? How many have shows this weekend? Track work, decals, or detail work? Any new structures going up? Let us know what you want to accomplish this weekend, with a picture if you have them. We'll come back on Monday, the 19th and see how we did.

That said, for those of us in the United States, and those stationed around the globe in service to our country, next week is Thanksgiving. Many, not all, but many have time off from work starting next Thursday. With that said, next week's Weekend Modeling Plans thread will start on Wednesday, November 21st. I know many like myself maybe busy in the kitchen on Thursday, but if you have Friday off and can escape the evil grasp of "Black Friday", you have a potential of three days to work on your railroad.

Until then, have a happy and safe weekend and...

Saturday I will be cleaning up my yard and raking the last of the leaves (hopefully). I also have to get my T-Trak modules ready for a show on Sunday up in Albany, NY.

Tomorrow my wife heads down to Florida to see her parents. Nana is difficult these days, at almost 92, so it's best that Penny travels down there by herself so things stay simple. I'll have a few days to myself until daughter Annie comes back from college for the holiday weekend.

So, I'll be cleaning off the big arts-and-crafts table downstairs and starting on the carfloat and its apron. The whole project will requre some benchwork, too, as the float will sit on a fold-down section to allow access when it's "out of port." But, I think I need to have the models built before I can figure out exactly how it all gets put together. Sure wish I could find the instruction sheet for that carfloat, though.

This will be our second weekend for our club on the San Jacinto Model Railroad Club layout tour. The NTRAK layout is still set up at the museum so all we have to do is turn on the power and put some trains out. My new Nebraska Zephyr will get a good workout and thorough breaking in. It is still without a decoder so will run on the Yellow or Blue line while I can run the Sam Houston Zephyr on the DCC Red line and have a race. I need to get out some Santa Fe trains like the Texas Chief, San Francisco Chief, Super Chief, Ranger, California Special, Fast Mail or the El Capitain. Did not run any of them last weekend. Argh......so many trains to run and so little time. Well there is always the layout at the Oklahoma City Train Show the first of December. After a break for Thanksgiving it is time to pack up and head north to the Sooner State.

After a weekend at Trainfest, I told my wife that I would watch the twins this weekend and give here a break. I doubt I'll get much modeling done, if any. Although here's to hoping they take a nice long nap one of the days! I have some projects that are near completion, an hour or so would be nice.

Enjoy them while you can. Looking back, the time I spent with my little girl when she was still little was too short. Of course, now we can go to a bar together and have a beer, and the shared memories of earlier years makes that special, too.

I almost forgot - there's a train show this weekend! I'll have plenty to do!

I already started painting an F7 and a GP7B. Too cool outside to continue this evening, maybe I'll get the black done tomorrow. I need to run buss wire so I can actually work the yard with an SW9 or S2 instead of the old 0-5-0.
