The weekend is so close, you can almost smell it. What does it smell like? Fresh cut lumbar, solder and glue of course! Time to roll out those projects that have been awaiting your attention since Monday!

This weekend for me will be a time of change. After working on and in some cases, fighting with my 6'X3' B&M N scale layout, it will all come down. I ran my last operations with it Thursday and today will run my last freight on it. Saturday morning I will begin the process of carefully lifting up the Atlas code 55 track and putting what I can into storage for future use. The pink foam and masonite fascia will be removed and the plywood top will be sanded and have a contact paper top applied. The future of the train table is sure. It will become a workbench (since I constructed it so robust) out at my storage unit complete with castor wheels. That is my goal this weekend. But what of Potter Place and the Northern line of the B&M? No worries, all that research and work will go into the 18"X4' module I plan to start construction next weekend on. I could never get my head wrapped around the whole roundy round that the benchwork limited me to so now was the time.

So how about you? Anyone else have some layout changes your going through? I can think of at least one. What about the rest of you? What do you wish to get accomplished before Monday? Whatever it is, let us know! We'll assemble back here on Monday the 25th and see how we all did. Next Friday is Black Friday and I will be anywhere but in a line waiting for sales on cheap items from China. I'll be here getting ready for my next project (Although I may sleep in a bit ;-))

Until then, have a safe, productive weekend and...

I am just so psyched! It's the first train show of the season, the Greenberg Show in Wilmington, MA. It's a big show, and it only takes about 20 minutes to get there. I have nothing in particular to buy, but I'll always look for anything from the Milwaukee that I don't already have, and if the "little screws" guy is there I'll pick some up. There are lots of layouts to look at, so it's worth the price of admission even if I don't buy a thing.

On the layout, I want to get the roofs painted for the tannery. It's getting cold, and I'd like to get the rattle-can painting done outside while I can. The loading dock awnings will need some Dull-Coat after the weathering powder, too.

In the Kid-Before-Christmas department, I ordered a Milwaukee U28B with DCC Sound way back in the spring. It was a pre-order at my LHS, and the delivery date has slipped a couple of times. Walthers is still showing it on November 28th, which is Thanksgiving, so hopefully it will be in my hands the following week.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, I'll be doing my shopping this weekend, but it will be for food supplies for the big feast later in the week. Our tradition is to get together with a bunch of old college friends. We all bring something. This year, I'll be collaborating with our daughter Annie to make a pumpkin risotto and a pumpkin tiramasu.

Well since my purchasing power is on hold until next month is not January I am unable to buy more supplies at this time. Good thing I stocked up. :)
Lots of stuff to keep me busy.
This week I finished running the bus wires so my attention has turned to track laying. I have laid the road bed for most of the peninsula and ran some feeder wires at the same time. As the glue dries over the weekend I will be able to lay track and solder the feeders on Monday. It looks like by wed sea I will run a test train over the newly laid tracks. Also in the plans are to glue down the foam 4% incline and lay roadbed and wiring there. That should be ready for test trains 1 week from Monday. Things are starting to happen.

It's time to put the Spectrum H16-44 back together. I've been working on repainting and detailing it (and fixed it!) over the past couple of weeks. Now to do that without breaking anything...

Built more sectional "units" for the garage loop layout. I have some more used track coming in the mail to lay out the end loops and get those constructed. I bought masonry bits, so I'm ready to start drilling and installing the units around the garage.

Still need to keep cleaning up the garage before installing anything.
