Hope you all in the States and those who serve abroad had a good Thanksgiving. I enjoyed the traditional favorites with my Angela and her family and have a lot to be thankful for.

I started my train modeling a little early this week. I went to our local Menards and purchased the lumbar and a few tools I'll need to get my layout started. Today I plan to finish sanding the top of the old layout table. it had Liquid Nails to adhere the pink foam and a lot of residue was left behind and needs to be sanded smooth before I can use it as a work bench. Saturday I plan to start construction of module one which will be the Potter Place module exactly as I had it on the old layout. It should be a bit easier to build since I am now starting from scratch and not redoing track work. If all goes well, I'll have the module up on it's legs and the sub roadbed ready for track by weekend's end. The O scale Christmas car for 2013 came in this past week so I may have to put the Christmas train up on Sunday since it was such a hit with everyone last year. That and a few Honey do items will make for a busy yet productive weekend.

So how about you? Will you be working on your layout or getting ready for Christmas? Yup, like it or not, the Christmas season is officially on us. Club module work, home layout work, whatever it may be, let us know! We'll come back on Monday the 2nd of December and see how we all did. Until then, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and have a great weekend and...

    Packing, organizing, packing, organizing, etc..

I'm beginning to plan for a work bench somewhere either in the existing layout room or in a closet in the laundry room, this might be a while though, we'll see. I got several feet of double track up in the garage, might try and get more done this weekend.

All of this could get held up, I'm waiting for the auto parts store to call me back when they get the gas tank for my pickup. 12 yo truck w/ only 60k miles, but it's first 11 years in NY caused the fuel tank to rust out.

    Happy Thanksgiving weekend to everyone!

I, too, got an early start. I took Wednesday off, and spent most of the day cutting and fitting Hydrocal castings for the pavement around the tannery.

I added concrete color to the Hydrocal when I poured these, so they're not as stark-raving-white as they look. I've still got to shim and support underneath, and then use sanding screen to sand the edges down flush with each other.

Meanwhile, I've started working on the various industrial tanks that came with the kit. There are a bunch, and they'll add a lot of "busyness" to the scene. It looks like I'll be spray painting in the garage for a while, as it's turned cold outside.

But, some of this will have to wait, as this weekend is the Tour de Chooch, where some local modelers open their homes to a a free, self-guided tour. I'm thinking of perhaps doing it myself next year, but for now I'll be driving hither and yon to see the work of my compatriots Saturday and Sunday.

A local club is holding an open house on Saturday and Sunday. I'll be down on Saturday to lurk about. Last year they had some vendor tables too, hence the note I put on the calendar: "Bring money!" :teeth:

    I'll probably find something... ;)

I will continue laying track. This past week I got some track glued down and feeders to it. Tested out three locos on it. Now to continue until I hit the wall of switch shortage. I still need 20 switches and suppliers are out of stock for 2 more weeks. When that happens I still have several buildings to build and I can start building my mountain.
