It looks like Christmas is in the air, which means decorating, shopping and all the other trappings of the holiday season. So will you have time for trains?

I plan to make time. My Potter Place module is up on it's legs now so it is time to work on the risers and sub roadbed. Once again, I am using Google Earth to get the best scale look to the track geometry based on the actual town. Some "fudge" factor will have to be used as only a portion of the main line still exists. I'm using 1/2-inch plywood for my sub roadbed with a riser every 12-inches so warping should not be a problem. If I have time, I will build my 18X18 inch corner module that will bridge Potter Place with the Concord module. Concord will be somewhat subjective since getting the lumbar yard, team track, scrap dealer and small grain elevator will require a fair amount of selective compression.

So how about you? What goals do you have for the weekend? Main line work, yard work? Maybe some scenery or more DCC? Whatever your plans are, let us know. We'll all gather back on Monday the 9th and see how we all did. Until then, have a happy and safe weekend and...

I am in Oklahoma City for the annual train show. I brought my Rosenberg NTRAK modules to set up with the group here.

Today is the last day of work for the year for me! When Penny went to Florida this summer to care for her parents, I was left with a lot of vacation time. It's use-it-or-lose-it, so in 10 minutes (it's now 10:30 AM) I'll be out the door until January 6th. Penny comes back home tonight, so I've got some housecleaning and plant-watering to do before I pick her up at the airport, and I've got to get the tree down from the attic and at least set it up so she can tell me where to move it to.

Train show tomorrow! The NMRA HUB Division show in Marlboro, always a good one. On the way back, I'll probably stop at You-Do-It Electronics, one of the few places where I can walk in and buy wire, shrink-tubing insulation and a thin-tip soldering iron.

I've got that Baldwin switcher I picked up a couple of weeks back to DCC-ize, and then more work on the tannery. I've also been considering putting up the rest of the fascia, since I'll have so much time. I've got a nice laser kit, too, for the Railway Express depot, so I may start on that as well.

It's a bit brisk here in Montana, with the highs expected to be at or below zero for the next few days, so I will be hiding out in a nice warm train room putting some final touches on the last of the hard shell needed for my layout, and installing the last of the tracks needed to the turntable and roundhouse. Too cold to play outside.

I want to finish the Bufkin's Bayou trestle build, so I can get track in place and rewired. I'm about to run out of building time due to family holiday obligations, so the sooner the better.

First, however, I have to track burnt out lights on the light string on the tree . . . . Scotch anyone?

I have to replace the gas tank on my pickup, doubt I'll get anothing modeling-related accomplished this weekend. My new-to-me U28C came in the mail today, it will need it's Ex-PC "CR" decals and numbers removed so I can make it CC&CI #2704 in the future.

I am hoping to just sit down and do something, anything, and enjoy this hobby a little...
