Welcome back everyone, and happy Good Friday. Today is kinda sad for me. Thanks to the current Pandemic, yet another one of my favorite traditions has been scrapped. For years, my good buddy Brian and I took Good Friday and would Railfan the BNSF, former Santa Fe Transcon from Toluca to Galesburg Illinois. We termed it, Good Friday, Great Railfanning. I hope you all are adapting to the new normal, lets get started.

Saturday: I have this Saturday off. While I'm still technically employed by the dealership, we work from home and make appointments, meeting the customer at the dealership with all safety and health protocols firmly in place. This Saturday, I'm not on call so I'll be finally finishing the CTC panel project I started back last fall. Just a few more pieces and it will be in use.

Sunday: Is supposed to be a rainy day. A good day to install the last two Tam Valley Switch servos. I'm also hopping to work on my way bills and some more signage for the layout.

So how about you? The good news about this current state of affairs is that it has given us more time to get the projects done in our work shops and on our layout. Feel free to share, with images to help inspire everyone. We'll return on Monday the 13th to see what we all accomplished. Until then, be safe, be healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

    Well....

Saturday: - I will start decaling the E8's - I'm a bit gun shy, after the last batch of decals took a bad turn. So..... wish me luck.
I will also be working on a couple of other projects.

Sunday: More of the same and - perhaps wash my truck. She is filthy!!

Y'all stay safe and healthy!! Have a great weekend,
    Wolf

Working from home today and Monday. With all the pandemic scare, things have been very tense in the office so hopefully I can be a little more relaxed as I work. Also, since we will be sheltering in place, what would normally be a super busy Easter weekend will be quiet and peaceful with time for model trains. :) Will probably work on some roads on the layout and see about temporarily affixing a backdrop to the scenic divide to get a feel for how it will look. Have a new 3D printed trailer from Royale Models that is high on my list for the weekend. I also have an electrical substation kit that may hit the workbench as well.

Happy Easter and I wish you all a great weekend. Be safe!

Working a half day this morning, then off for the weekend. My goals are to:

    1. finish painting the recreation room on the other end of the basement

    2. Continue electrical work in the rest of the basement, specifically the layout room lighting and outlets.

    3. Start new wiring and such for basement bathroom, laundry and my wife’s future craft room.

I’d like to get more vertical supports attached to the masonry, I’m close to being able to put up a couple narrow pieces of benchwork if I can get another 6-8 vertical boards installed.

thanks to a great internet fueled design collaboration, I'm playing around on my track plan:

I've also got a virtual MRR happy hour planned Saturday evening, and we are trying to finish the daughter's room repaint. That should have been done last weekend, but she and my wife decided to take down the popcorn ceiling (!) and discovered she has thick vinyl wallpaper on her walls - one wall of which was peeled to reveal unprimed unfinished drywall from 1980 or so.

This takes me back. 11 1/2 years ago, moved into our new home and had a wide open attic. Thought it would take forever to finish it for my layout. I had nothing, nadda, zippo, zilch up there but space and an idea in my little brain.

This weekend I intend on advancing the "scene" at Interchange, VA on my layout. Also plan on sketching up a couple of trestle piers to have constructed. These will be tall and I plan on having them cut from maple by a custom woodworker I know. I thought about building molds, pouring as a side project, but I have to pick and choose my battles with respect to time so I can do other things on the layout. So, I will have someone build them for me.

    Have a wonderful Easter all!

I got all turnouts upgraded last week. Right now I am reshopping the 0-6-0 which had been damaged during a previous reshop (ironic I know ;) ). This work will include upgrades as well. I have been planning vehicles and figures as well. Due to my extremely slow pace and tendency to procrastinate, I will do good to get the shifter done. :D

I am hoping that I can have the new yard laid this week and test out the bottle opener. I work nights, so I hope to post daily updates.

I think I'm going to spend part of this weekend creating a lighted, detailed scene in my shallow relief warehouse. This is the warehouse as it appears now. The 2 open roll up doors is where the scenes will be.

I sometimes have box cars spotted in front of those doors so I may also try extending the scene into a double door box car with the doors open. Checking through all my stuff it looks like I have everything to do this.

I'm starting on a total redesign of my Lester WA roundhouse. I discovered photos of it showing a total rebuild from the one I had previously built. So this time I will design it with lighting effects including welding in the pit, shop sounds, and finer detail.

I want to do some feeder wires on module 06, touch up paint on the Frisco Arkansas River Bridge on module 05 and install the coal trestle on module 06. These are all for my Boston Mountains Sub Division layout.

Can’t force my self down to work on a scratch build which is actually a good thing if I want it done right. However plans are forming for other projects.
