    Wow, summer sure has taken the highball as we enter into the last month of summer, August. Time to get some of those railroad projects out of the way.

    In what I would call a model version of "When Worlds Collide," my model airplane club of Monticello IL is taking part in the town's "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" weekend. The Monticello Railway Museum is right next door to our flying field and many of us, your author included, will have many of our model aircraft on display. The bonus is watching the museum run it's trains all weekend and maybe see some classic cars at the same time. Guess that is a win-win-win. Sunday depending on the weather, I may try to sneak a few hours on either my N scale module project or T-Trak modules for the upcoming fall season.

    So how about you? What do you have in your plans for this first weekend of August? Let us know! We'll all come back on Monday the 4th and see how we did. Until then, have a happy safe and productive weekend and...

    High Greens!

    Sounds like fun, but using the word "collide" isn't necessarily adviseable for any form of transportation.

    It will be back to the bench for more time on the truss bridge. The Central Valley kit is plastic, but many of the parts are not cut to size or shape, so once I got all those girders assembled I had to pull out the utility knife and razor saw, lay them down on the template and do some trimming and angle-cutting. Then I can start assembling the truss sections.

    Hopefully, I'll get that last turnout, too. I've still got some work to do on the siding that I ripped up and raised to get to the bridge, but I'm not doing anything on the new side until the bridge is done and I've got the liftoff built to support it and make the connection.

    I'm building an O scale JI Case steam traction engine. I've built the HO scale version but this is much more fun because I can actually see the small parts. All those wheel cleats are individually applied. This will power a small sawmill on my new On30 layout.

    Last weekend of vacation, and I'll be continuing the Proto GP18 repaint where I left off. I just need to get the door glazing out of there, or mask off the glazing somehow because those bleeping buggers aren't coming out, even with maximum cussing. Protos are a pain to repaint...

    @JimJ - nice tractor!:)

    I'm going to barricade the door, turn off the phone, and finish the steps into the pits. Then start forming for the floor. Bobby
