Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. Despite the Holiday rush, it looks like a lot of us are getting a fair amount done in the workshop and on the layout! Let's see where we see ourselves this weekend.

Saturday: As is my annual tradition, I'll be up around 3:00am or so to get up and go Christmas shopping at those stores that have early Holiday hours. I also need to go to one of the big lumbar stores to pick up one final piece for the American Flyer Christmas display. Once home, I need to flush the radiator in my truck and see about getting it registered. Once home from that, I plan to work on the chocolates we were supposed to do last weekend. Unfortunately, the wife is sick with a head cold, so she is banned from the kitchen. I'll pull up a good podcast or some classic Christmas music and get the chocolates finished. Any time left after that will be devoted to cleaning and getting the workshop ready for the wrapping of presents that will take place the next week.

Sunday: No idea at this point. Both working on trains and cars take a break this time of year, although I would really like to install the hardwood fascia to my N scale shadowbox. That way when January arrives, I can get back to track work. We'll see what is left on the Christmas list of things to do and how the wife is feeling.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 18th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and as always...

HAPPY LAST DAY OF HANUKKAH!

Friday-After work I’ve got to do some Christmas shopping.

Saturday-Hanging out with the family and knocking out a bunch of chores so I can have Sunday free.

Sunday-I’ll head over and pick up Grey One and then we’ll go to the train show at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA. A local club, NVTRAK is scheduled to have some modules up and I’ll ask about the club and maybe do some holiday shopping for myself! Looking forward to meeting some fellow local model railroaders in person!

Happy Friday to Y'all,

I've been "sick" since yesterday. This goes completely against my grain. To call off sick when I'm not. However, I have to burn through some of my accumulated sick hours by February.

I've started a new project - a pair of Wheels of Time H12-44's. One SP and one ATSF.
Yesterday I started drilling the holes for grab irons and such.

So, this weekend, I hope to get them painted.

Y'all have a great weekend,
Wolf

Happy Friday all!

Well, the weather is clear today and no rain predicted until Saturday night. That means I should be able to pick up some wood for the new fascia on the layout on my way home tonight. My son finished his finals yesterday and the wife is picking him up today. I'll spend a little time getting caught up on how those went and what else is new with him. After dinner, I'll recruit him to help me move the wood downstairs and I'll start drawing out the cuts that need to be made on the wood.

Saturday will be coffee and running trains in the morning while checking out what I have scattered across the work bench. Later in the morning when it warms up a little, I'll get all my tools and a table or two set up outside to start the cutting and drilling of all the needed slots and holes for the fascia. once that is done, I'll do a little sanding and any paint prep work I see that needs to be done. Then I will clean up the mess I made and get all the tools put back away. That should be a full day for me.

Sunday, we have several errands that need to be taken care of and laundry so there is that. If all goes well, I hope to get a first coat of paint on the fascia Sunday night and then maybe the second/final coat Monday afternoon.

Not sure what else I'll have time to get into over the weekend but we'll see :D

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!

Good morning everyone,

Everything has now been put away from last weekend's train show. I did come home with a few club / friend's repair items that I will work on in due time.

Almost all of our trees have dropped their leaves now so I'll be out raking up as much as my back allows.

Today the annual trainboard.com winter layout party is supposed to start over on the layout design forum. I have been a part of that for the past several years and seem to always get a lot done on the layout during that time. So I'll be posting my introductory and goals post then getting started working on those goals.

Have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

Hoping to do a little more scenery and detail work, but we'll see. Tomorrow they are predicting sunny skies and 50 degree temperatures, here in what is supposed to be the snowiest large city in the US (greater Syracuse, NY); not even 6" total so far this year. I can remember when we would have 5 feet by Christmas. I'm sure there will be some time outdoors on the agenda. Sunday is our anniversary, so I don't plan to get much time in the basement. 22 years married, 35 years together. I can't believe she's put up with me this long!

Hey All,

A little hobby time planned this weekend, along with a visit to the Spurs to see if they can lose 18 in a row...go Spurs!?

I'll continue to work on these freelance cars (decals sent from Brad Bourbina of the Neosho Valley Lines and subsidiary lines) and a few more projects starting up for the holiday season. Hopefully, work will wind down by the end of next week....We'll see, I might even make some progress on the new outbuilding (shed).

Saturday. My wife and daughter are going to do Christmas shopping for a family in need. While they are out, I will be doing the weekly grocery store, produce store, and pharmacy runs. If I have a chance, I might try to take a trip to a local hobby shop. Then there is laundry to do. If time allows, I will work on painting details on the walls for the Ashmore Hotel kit. I have some cars that need to be put away.

Sunday. We are expecting a couple of inches of rain starting Sunday so we will be doing indoor chores and wrapping gifts. I would like to continue painting details of the Ashmore and putting cars away.

No real plans for the layout but I was invited to run trains on a horribly oversized Horribly Oversized layout on Sunday. Yes, I said that twice as it applies. It's an HO layout built in a warehouse.

Ahead of schedule for gift shopping, but behind schedule for outdoor decorating. My wife and I both contracted Covid for the first time some weeks ago. She was barely affected, but it knocked me flat. I'm past the worst of it, but have no want to do anything but sleep and be lazy. Much needs to be done outside, but it'll have to wait. Meanwhile, I'll continue spreading small patches Woodland Scenics grass on my foam mountains while I think through my options on making trees.
