Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you had a great week and are ready to get some model railroad work done this weekend. Let's get started. Saturday: With all 12 legs for the City Job 2.0 glued together, I'll now start the process for the leveling feet. I may end up sanding, staining and finishing the legs as well just to get that part out of the way. Sunday: Meanwhile on the original City Job, I plan to get in a deep clean, place all the buildings and cars on the layout and resume normal operations. The guys from work want to start having op sessions on a semi regular basis after the Christmas and New Year's break so I want to get that deep clean in and try Ron's Trains and Things track cleaning technique. It worked great on the 3-rail O scale Christmas layout so I'm excited to try it on N scale code 55. Other than that, I'll probably be wrapping presents. So how about you? What do you have planned for this last weekend before the Christmas holiday? Let us know. We'll assemble on Monday the 20th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always... High Greens!
Continue to test my DCC wiring and Momentary switches for my Remote Turnouts wiring, and the Just Plug lighting. Mainly do some more mocking up as I am getting closer to working on other things since most of the wiring for my first 2' x 4' base is almost completed. Since wiring for DCC in many spots compared to the single connection I had in the past, things appear to run much better. And going from my original idea of manual switching turn outs to remote is awesome, and really like the Rocker size, and how they work for me. Now some fun, runs some trains, and try to get the two 2' x 4' bases ready for the nieces when they come over to spend the night and play with trains! Mock-up some scenery, how I want the roads, thinking about digging into the 2" foam, do I want bridges, water feature, ponds, etc...
Happy Friday to Y'all, I plan to continue working on my latest F7 project. Prep work. Drilling holes adding some details. Hopefully, on Sunday - I can apply the first paint color. Starting point: Y'all have a fantastic weekend - stay safe Wolf
I plan on staying warm. Ha ha. Breezy and single digits outside, with on and of snow flurries. So, I hope to continue and perhaps finish the caboose kit started last weekend. First some painting on it, then... A couple of other kits on the workbench. Also need to figure out how to re-gauge a Grandt Line diesel critter from HOn3, to HOn30. Then scan more of my slide collection.
Gonna be a great weekend. Saturday will start out with the NMRA division meeting. Then it’s time to goGet my daughter from school for the holidays. If time happens I will do. Some modeling. Sunday more modeling I have a full week of vacation so my weekend will co to us through Sunday of next week. I plan on getting a bunch of stuff done and wrapped up. I plan on pulling out the modules in January and getting those ready for a show in February.
Should be another busy weekend! Saturday will consist of taking my son Christmas shopping and trying to run whatever errands need to be done. Working on a non RR project and then trying to fit in some layout time if possible. Sunday will be the more likely day for working on the layout. Have a couple of items from the parts and left overs box that I am going to clean up and use for the starting point on on a couple of my projects for the winter layout party. As for the weather, well it's Christmas time in GA. That means 70ish today and partly cloudy, Saturday is rain and the mid 60's and Sunday will be Sunny and in the 50's. Should be great! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Good morning from partly cloudy and cold Northeast Ohio! After 60's yesterday a cold front came thru and we are now in the 30's. SP-Wolf, how could you paint over those beautiful NYC units with SP colors! Nothing complete this week, but I did make some progress on a number of kits! Since I did not post on Monday for last weekends accomplishments here is what I got done last weekend and this week. Continued work on the 86' Tangent Hi-Cube kit getting the side grabs installed and the door hardware, the lower door guide was a real PITA to install. Should get the first coat of paint on it this weekend. Also assembled another Red Caboose R70-15 PC&F Reefer kit, got the process down pretty well now. Note, I completed most of the roof detail parts then painted it and masked it before adding all the other detail parts. This kept me from breaking the small parts while attempting to mask the roof. I hope to paint the R70-15 Reefer this weekend after I spend some time bowling tonight. After that I have a covered hopper kit that I completed and painted and that should get decaled this weekend along with starting on the Reefer. Was going to paint an Athearn 50' PC&F RBL but the paint went bad and I had to order some more so I can finish that car. I will probably start on another Tangent 86' High Cube kit that I want to paint for either the DT&I or the DTSL. Rick Jesionowski
Good morning all. Continuing work on the Carlin yard. All the track is in on the west end now so will be working on the manual control hardware and wiring in that area. Still need to build a few more turnouts for this section so may start on those too. Wishing you all a great weekend whatever you are doing.
I’m off work until the New Year, so I’m hoping to make some big progress on the layout over the next 2 weeks. Plans for this weekend include: 1. Paint base color on the mountain scenery base. - DONE 2. Drill holes for buss line south of the classification yard towards staging. 3. General clean up for potential New Years work session with friends. 4. Decals for three more box cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Saturday we’re hosting the annual family reunion Christmas party. Sunday: like last weekend, l’ll figure it out. Will have all day with trains. Have a great weekend all!
Yeah, me too. Decisions, decisions. End of year business for many here. Right now, I just finished a side ladder rework. Problems with first attempt. I am trying not to redo a reporting mark so as not to do damage. We will see. Also working on putting sides on car floor. Need to check dimensions after this and then onward and upward. To the roof. All be safe and continue to have fun (and party hardy?)!
I received my first shipment of Kato N Scale track last week, so will hopefully find some time to set some sections out and see how things might fit on the train table. I'll first need to deal with some last-minute Christmas shopping, then begin gift wrapping. My wife and I went to get our COVID booster shots this morning and the highways were jammed with Christmas shoppers like I've never seen.
Going to continue some projects that I started last month and have been “chipping” away at: 1) Weathering and reflective stripes on my railboxes (x8) 2) weathering, loads, and chains on my red streak QUAX flats (x4) Also I need to put an Xmas decoration back up after the storm we had last night. After that, I’ve got some Metra coaches from Kato, WoT, and Concor to work on that in various stages of getting lights and passengers added to them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think we finally finished the Christmas decorating. I do need to start wrapping gifts. I am going to everything possible to avoid going shopping this weekend for anything. Depending on the weather I have a few small outside things to do. I did some thinking regarding the layout over the past few days. I decided to addd a third track at the passsenger station. I worked on getting the track in place. I have the switches in place on one end. I still have some more track work to do. I also came to the conclusion the engine terminal is not going to happen now. Without the engine terminal and adding the third track the layout will follow the original plan. Instead of the engine terminal I will have some type of industry. Over the weekend I hope to work some more on the third track and updating a bunch of frieght cars. I need to continue the clean up from ballasting.
Sunday night out here-finished the railboxes but got distracted. Ended up painting passengers for my coaches and working on two Army tank cars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
