Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend and for those that observe it, Happy first day of Hanukkah. I hope Ken is feeling better and Shortround has found relief from his molar. I also hope we all are staying well this busy time of year. Let's see what we have planned for this weekend.

Friday: I will not be getting off too early today but any time I can get will be spent on the American Flyer Christmas display. I'm helping my boss move today as he is escaping Illinois to move to Kentucky. After we have his truck packed, we'll head home for rest and bed for what will be a busy weekend.

Saturday: Christmas is in full notch 8 here. I promised my wife a date day and we will be making Christmas candies. I've planned to make chocolate covered Oreos and pretzel rods. Ang purchased boxes last week so once we are done making the candy, we'll box them up for gifts for family, friends as well as our postman, garbage collector, Fed Ex and UPS delivery agents and water delivery person. This will take us most of the day. Later, we are taking our granddaughter to the Bloomington Zoo for their special Christmas lights program. Any time in between these activities will be spent on the AF Christmas display.

Sunday: We'll probably be tired after Saturday, so we'll relax with some coffee for me and tea for her. Once rested we'll head out to pick up our Christmas tree and once home, start setting it up. I hope to finish the AF display so that by later in the day, the tree will be done, and our first American Flyer Christmas train will be running around it. I also need to get the workshop upstairs cleaned up. Christmas presents are making their way to the house and the large workshop table is perfect for wrapping presents. I'm odd in which I love wrapping presents. I may run my new Athearn SW1500 on the switching layout however to break up the day before calling it a day.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 11th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Happy Friday all! Been a long busy week and ready for today to be done. It's a full Friday this week so no chance of ducking out early. After work the wife and I are going to grab a quick dinner and hit one of those big club stores for normal stock and get a jump on holiday prep.

Saturday, morning coffee and trains for a bit. Time to switch out the coal train I've been running for the past few weeks. Maybe a grain train this time. We will have a lot of errands to run plus I'll be in search of fascia material for the layout. If all goes well, I may get back to the workbench for a little while in the evening. the rain is supposed to start moving in by late afternoon or evening so maybe that will be an incentive to get done with the errands faster.

Sunday is supposed to be raining for the better part of the day so even if I find the fascia materials I want. probably won't get to work on getting the stuff cut to size. Have a a few projects on the workbench and layout I could work on but we'll see how it goes.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!

It’s been a long week, so not much planned.

Saturday is the Army-Navy game, so I’ll be cheering Army on from a friend’s house while most of our kids play together. My oldest daughter may stick around and watch some of the game.

Sunday will be catching up on chores (a few Xmas gifts, groceries, laundry) and hopefully taking some measurements for a benchwork expansion this winter. Probably won’t have time to hit the orange home improvement store, but I can get a shopping list together at least.

Friday greetings all! There will be no modeling this weekend, only running trains tomorrow while folks are here for the family Christmas/Reunion party. We also have long time friends that we've invited for the weekend and they are driving here in the morning. Looking forward to all of this. Will try to post some picts.

Everyone have a very good and peaceful weekend.

    Good morning everyone,

This is the train show weekend I've been looking forward to.

This morning I'll load the truck and about noon head out to pick up the club trailer. Expect to arrive at the fairgrounds at 2:00pm and will be setting up the Ntrak layout until about 6:00pm.

Saturday should be a more relaxed pace with everything set up we can run trains, visit, and shop.

Sunday, after the show closes will be tear down and loading the trailer. I'll bring the trailer home and wait till Monday to back it in into it's shed in daylight.

I'll have pictures and the story on Monday.

Have a great weekend whatever you are doing

Good morning from mostly sunny and cool Northeast Ohio!

This will be a busy weekend, I have to hang new drapes today after I already took my wife for an MRI on her left knee. Will be going to bowling tonight where I hope my good bowling from last Friday and this Tuesday continues.

On Saturday and Sunday our club will be open for visitors along with the Strongsville Historical Society where the club is located. We will have lots of trains running and showing kid how to operate the layout. Will try to get laundry done and maybe some modeling.

Here is a project I have been working on.

Below are some in progress pictures on a modified Robbins Rails 60' Greenville Boxcar, that I am changing into a ACF prototype, first off had to change the doors from plug style which I carved off and replaced with a pair of doors I had left over from an Intermountain 5283 boxcar kit, then I carved off the side sill and replaced it with a deeper sill matching the ACF drawings. I also sliced and diced the underframe to change the wheelbase from 41' to 46'3" and used Moloco ACF Coupler pockets for the ends of the car. Still have to remove all the side panel rivits and add various detail parts.

Greetings from a beautiful! winter's day in McLean.
    Friday Through Monday Morning:
Primary: Get my freshly built 24", (12 layer foam) mountain painted and presentable.
Secondary: Get the other mountains painted.
Tertiary: Get surrounding areas in just the right contrasting colors.
Finally depending on many factors: Get some figures painted.

    Life is good.
    Let's live it.

I enjoy wrapping presents myself. (y) Grain train time! ;) Benchwork expansion sounds interesting. Sounds like the inventory is getting painted. :unsure:Reunion train running! Thank you for taking care of the children. (y) Train Show time! "Carving off boxcar doors." Didn't see that coming. Contrasting colors sounds good. (y) Well, I have been working on the passenger cars for awhile. Cars still not attached to center beams. Late Wednesday I decided to check how the coaches looked end to end. What I saw was unbelievable. Coach 501 was wider that coach 502. "Really? Seriously?" I said to myself. "This is impossible!", I said to myself. But, guess what! 501 was indeed 1/32" wider. :( What to do? "Let's just ignore it", I said to myself. ;) So, later, I went to bed. Got up early to go get an oil change. While I was waiting, I thought, "There is nothing for it." "I will just have to correct the problem." This decision was based on Murphy's law of modeling and life. "If you ain't happy with it now, you will be less happy with it later." So, after I got back from car service, I began to carefully remove one side wall and two end walls. :cautious: All had glue corner brackets holding them. I was able to trim the floor at this point. And to add to the joy, as I was trying to glue the side wall back, I serendipitously tore off an end door. "Perfect!", I said to myself. Anyway, to run this account out even longer, I nearly forgot to trim the end walls to width as well. In the end, we got 'er done. (y) Now all cars are awaiting roofs. I do have a working plan for this. So, we will see. Have a great weekend. :D

OK, its Sunday morning and I have a huge layout specific list to pick from. My back is feeling better so maybe I can check off a couple items.

I am still asking myself the goal of the day. Breakfast first.

All I'm getting done this week is tidying up and organizing the bench before I visit my family for Christmas next week. Next week is going to be the exciting one, when I get to rummage around in the boxes of equipment I stashed there

No plans. Except to attend a meeting of the procrastination club. Maybe.... But I don't have time to think about that right now.

Procrastination and indecision may or may not be my problem. I'll think about it tomorrow.
