Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a great week. It looks like most of us were ambitious and got some things accomplished in the railroad room. Let's strive to do it again.

Saturday: Friday night is the Athearn Extra so I will plan on sleeping in a bit. Illinois got dumped on again so the wife and I will be staying home all weekend, unless I find a reason to go to my not so local hobby shop. Today's priority will be clean up after the Athearn Extra livestream, then the N scale GP30. I think I'm about done with the little bits, and I may be in the home stretch. I hope so, I have train shows to prepare for.

Sunday: Whatever isn't finished with the GP30 may be done today but I really want to start working on the B&M shadowbox layout. I have all the track I need and I'm itching to try a new technique on track painting, ballasting and weathering I learned from a recent video on Boomer Diorama's YouTube channel. Any other time will be spent on fine tuning my HO Athearn Genesis GP15 and GP18 to the Proto Throttle. Domestic duties may call but fortunately they are not as many as in warmer weather.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know. We'll return on Monday the 21st, AKA Presidents' Day, to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Good morning from cold, snowy and sleety Northeast Ohio!

Going in to refinance our car, will save a couple of hundred on the monthly payment, then some painting and bowling tonight.

Saturday, club meeting and then an operating session, may get some modeling done later, almost finished with the Tangent PS Combo Door Boxcar. Here is the completed underframe, now onto the side, end and top details.

    Sunday, more painting and decaling.

well in an ideal world I would finish the main line build a mountain and a couple of city structures. And maybe even a stretch call I would oh well never mind.

Most likely I will get some figures painted. Including a moose just for moose

Will continue installing track feeders and making another pair of reduced height Kato bridge piers. The layout is designed to be moved someday, so the extra wiring for that takes a bit more time.

    Good morning all,

I'll be spending some time this weekend building a little cart for a new smoker that our nephew sent us for Christmas. When I get into the train room I will continue working on a few structures. If the acrylic paints I ordered arrive I will be trying out a painting technique for roads that I saw in a YouTube video.

Everyone have a safe and enjoyable weekend whatever you are doing.

    Happy Friday!!

Saturday and Sunday will be spent on maintenance and cleaning. I do not anticipate any "direct" model railroad or layout improvement stuff going on.

    1. I will go through and do some turnout maintenance. I have a couple of turnouts where the spring from the Tortoise is hanging up. This is due to slightly adjusting track alignment after installing turnouts.
    2. My work shop is starting to get "ratty". I have things to throw out, do a better job of organizing, AND my slop sink needs a serious cleaning. It is a fiberglass in-counter sink that has gotten boogered up from paint and other stains. It will get a soaking of white vinegar and baking soda for several hours. May take a couple of applications.
    3. Time permitting, I hope to install the new DCC Specialties PSX-4 circuit breaker system. I have a Digitrax PM 42 and have not been happy with its performance. I've had this PSX-4 sitting on my office desk for months and its about time to put the dang thing in.

If I get any of the 2 items above done, it will be a good weekend. I have to get the "procrastination" gremlins outta here for a while.

    Have a great weekend!

Argh. My module kits are en route. But they will arrive in my vicinity while USPS is closed for a three day weekend. Rats. Maybe I'll receive them on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, I am thinking about assembling a couple of HOn30 flat car kits. Have been debating how I will a some weight, without it showing. With truss rods a few under frame details, I may not be able to do much. Will be using sheet lead.

Brave souls going camping. Gremlins being shooed. This place is really jumping. ;) If last week was the battle of the ampersands, this week is the battle of the graphics. Working all week on this. I think I have a finalized a printable set. Yesterday, I printed a set that was incorrect! This is chore weekend with dash of bitter cold. By Monday I should see application of reporting marks and railroad name on car sides. :D Everybody be warm, safe and fun. Not sure what plans we have for around the house this weekend. There is laundry to do.

On the layout I want to continue working on the coal trestle ramp. I have walls to install and some land sculpting with either plaster of Paris or hydrocal. Then I can lay track. I also can work on the mainlines such as attaching the roadbed and track.

I have a long weekend-we are skiing in Nagano for a couple of days, so no modeling until Monday afternoon at the earliest.

But my goal is to get the shelf on the wall as a minimum. I might even get to laying track and doing a tiny bit on scenicing with all the AZ Rock stuff I got last week.

    Very simple:
    1) Finish the railroad facilities power house.
    2) Build switches for the north end of Charleston.

Well, I have a lot to do.

    1. Work on the two new curve modules. Saturday I lay road bed and Sunday track, Monday start building the hills

    2. Start module repairs on the older modules that were found at the Kanab show

    3. Start working on my tax returns

All that while working in between

Just got back from 3 days of looking at wedding venues. I did sneak in a side trip to a hobby shop on Wednesday. I have one, single, solitary objective for this weekend, which is:

Make the laser engraver I received earlier in the week do what I want it to. This might be rather involved since I have not taken it out of the box yet. Whatever happens, there will be pictures on Monday.

    Stay safe,

Looks like I might have a little time to get back to a couple of projects on the layout this weekend. At this point I'll call it a lets see how it goes weekend.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I'm messing around with electronics to create signals. I have a couple of Tomar signals that gave me an inspiration for signals with bi-polar LED's and a lever arm micro switch. I have so many turnouts that it's not practical to put them at every turnout, so I'll place them only the mains where a thrown turnout could cause derailments. Then more scenery work.
