Believe it or not, it is the last weekend of February. That means that little sliver of sunshine is a sign of things to come, in other words Spring! So we better use our remaining hours of winter wisely.

This weekend I plan to work on my home layout. Electrical supplies I have been waiting for came in so I can progress accordingly. I have one more module to build, a special 30" module that will connect the Potter Place module with Concord. Once this is done, I will start laying track again. So while I do not have a lot listed here this morning, what I do have to accomplish may take most of my weekend.

How about you? What will you be doing this weekend? Track work, DCC, maybe a little bit of proto operations? Let us know! We'll come back on Monday the 24th and see how we all did. Until then, have a happy, safe and productive weekend and...

    High Greens!

Well, it's been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon....

In a couple of weeks, I will be getting my birthday greeting from Trainboard for my 67th. This week, I've been hearing a lot of rumors at work about another "Voluntary Layoff" offer, which they did once last year to reduce headcount. These are targeted at us older guys. And this time, I'm planning to take it and retire. While this won't change my plans for the weekend, it will certainly change my plans for the rest of the year.

It will be warm enough outside for some spray painting, so that will push me to finish the brake details on that diesel-era Tichy boxcar that will be used for "Hide Service Only" when I'm not running steam. Then, I'll open up the box and start looking at the Branchline Trains laser kit for "Munns Station," which I will decorate for Railway Express.

This is Branchline's picture, not mine...

There are only 2 small sections of my layout where the pink foam is still showing, and this will take care of one of them. The other will be a small model of a foundation with a collapsed building. I'll start casting some stone walls out of Hydrocal for that over the weekend, too, time permitting.

After that, it's time to seriously start planning the benchwork for Phase 3...

Heading out of town thus weekend, wont get much accomplished.

The existing "Ravenswood Yard" will be reused on the next layout as a cement plant. Ill have to remove yard tracks 2 and 3 to make it work.

I pulled up the length of track 3 and straight railed the switch this morning before I went to work. Track two will be cut off with enough room for 1 or 2 cars.
