Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend and the last weekend of February. As you know, I hate winter in the Midwest, but we really haven't had much of a winter save from a few cold weeks, but we are closer to March and spring. Let's get started on what we have planned for the weekend.

Friday: It's the fourth Friday of the month which means Athearn has new Announcements going up today at 9:00am Central. @dti406 and Rick, you will be happy to know, this month we are announcing not only an undecorated HO locomotive but also an HO undecorated freight car. N scale guys, you'll get an undecorated car too as well as some other goodies under the Athearn Genesis line. Once all the work is done on that I'll be done for the week and can start my weekend. The parts for the Falcons carb came in so I'll start re-building that tonight.

Saturday: If I get the carb rebuilt, I may go to Angela's dads' garage and get the carb installed and see if she runs well. I still need to address a few minor things, but she should be ready for the road again by spring. If I don't get the carb done until later Saturday, I may go next weekend. If that is the case, I plan to work on the wiring for the N scale layout.

Sunday: Is supposed to be warm, as in 60 degrees warm. If that is the case, then I will spend some time in the garage and try to finish the legs of the HO modules I built over a year ago. These modules were to be part of the L shaped layout for the Athearn studio however at 16 inches wide, I could not get an 18-inch curve to navigate between both modules. The N scale shadowbox layout now occupies one of the walls that formally made up the Athearn studio and now I will build a Lance Mindheim inspired switching layout with the two HO modules and place them behind my work desk for future live feeds. I'll fiddle around with the modules and backdrop and office on Sunday and maybe get the backdrop painted. We'll see, but it would be nice to get trains running in N scale and track work planning in HO. We'll see where my morning coffee takes me.

So how about you? What do you have planned on this final weekend of February? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 26th to see how we did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Happy Friday all! Not much planned for after work today. May get started on reworking a project from last weekend. Waiting on a call back on something I need to deal with plus expecting a package today. Those two things will pretty much dictate the weekend.
Saturday, depending on the feedback I get today, I may have to make a road trip on Saturday. If it goes different, then that will wait until next weekend in which case, I'll hit the coffee and train room early. I will probably start off tackling reworking a load I started last week. There is some chain link fence on the layout that needs to be repositioned and attached so that is on the list as well. If he package shows Friday, I'll also start to tackle a new DCC decoder install.
Sunday will hopefully be quiet. It just might be warm here too. If I'm gone Saturday, then all those plans roll to Sunday. If not then I will just continue where I left off and see what happens from there.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!

I’ve got a few chores to do, but I’m hoping to finish the experimenting with my track plan so that I can commit to installing the fascia.

Today I have to call the rental car company and get the rental set up for wife while her car is in the shop getting repairs from being stolen. We didn’t want to start the rental until the car was recovered and on its way to the repair shop. The rest of the weekend will involve trips to the grocery store, the produce store, and perhaps Target. If the glue I ordered does not arrive I will need to run to a hobby store. There will be some house cleaning and laundry.

I cannot finish the Ambassador Hotel until I get more glue. I ordered the glue over a week ago and in that time, it has only traveled from Miami to Orlando. Once I get the glue I can add the fire escapes, water tower, and roof access shack. I plan to clear off the layout so I can the Ambassador Hotel to the layout. Also, this will allow me to run some trains and force me to do more organization of the rolling stock.

Friday greetings all! Hope everyone had a good week. This weekend should be mostly modeling with a few non-modeling chores to handle. But on the train front, the big ideas this weekend are:
    • Work on the tobacco barn project for my brother.
    • Work on the small stream I started carving out.
    • Get out the trestle uprights for the LCL project and start getting a final height identified and fixed on the building.
    • Spend time on an "electrical" bug I've found this week. Fortunately, it is in an area that should make it easy to isolate.
    • Of course, any and all plans are subject to revision as I wander around the layout or the workshop.
    Have a great weekend all!

    Good morning from sunny Socal,

No MRRing plans, as my Niece and Nephew are still with us. Have no idea what adventures await us, this weekend.

Y'all have a great and productive weekend,
    Wolf

I've completed 60 puffball trees and I hope to start the process of setting some in place and seeing how they might look best. I'm thinking I might want to make up a bunch of trunkless puffball clumps to fill in between the trees and bring some additional texture to the overall look. This is all new to me. In any case, the DS&N RR can't move forward until another tank car of spray glue arrives. :)

    Good morning everyone,

It's a train show weekend here and I'm ready to go. First this morning I will drive my wife to Trader Joe's for some shopping. Then after lunch I'll start out to pick up the club trailer and meet everyone at the fairgrounds at around 1:00pm for layout setup.

Saturday and Sunday will be enjoying the train show and running trains. After tear down on Sunday evening, I'll bring the trailer home with me as I don't like backing it into its shed in the dark. Monday I'll take it back to its shed.

Everyone have a great weekend whatever you are doing.

Good morning from foggy and cool Northeast Ohio!

Friday, started off the day going to the doctor to check on the progress of my wife's right knee and start the insurance process for doing the left knee. Got home and will be resting a bit after getting up so early on my day off. Will be working on building another IMRC R70-20 Reefer, along with starting on another kit to be determined later along with workbench cleanup. Then in the evening will be going to bowling where I hope we reverse the beating we took last week.

Saturday, will be going to the club to run trains and then doing some decaling in the evening along with any model building.

Sunday, will be doing the laundry along with any decaling and model building that comes along.

On a nice note, we just made reservations on Amtrak to head out to Portland, OR on the Empire Builder to visit my daughter and her family this summer.

Jim, if you would, could you please send me the order numbers on those undecorated kits, dealers in their infinite wisdom will not list the undecorated kits on their pre-order forms so I have to send them the numbers to get them ordered.

Holy crap! I would hope that your insurance company covers the rental car expense. Of course, they protect themselves with all sorts of riders that limit their liability, for example some won't cover stolen vehicle if they don't have a "kill function" that disables the vehicle if driven without the owners key or fob. In my area there has been a rash of thefts of Kia's and Hyundai's. Apparently, there are You Tube videos that teach teens how to hot wire them. It is mostly these models because anti-theft devices are not a standard feature. The NY State attorney general is suing the car makers for the millions of dollars in damages from police pursuits and recovery costs. Best of luck

I love new announcements and weekend starts! New decoder hopefully shows up. (y) From track plan to fascia. :) Very glad car recovered. "Forced organization" interesting concept. I like big ideas too. ;) SoCal = go to Page Museum, tar pits. :) I made one very small puff ball. Train show time! Reefer sounds cool. (Did I really say that? I'll be here all week. Okay, I'll stop now.) Wow! Insurance and car theft! After some major distractions this past week, I began laser cutting parts for the Union City passenger depot. :p It is a learning curve for me. :cautious: Looks very promising though. Should save time, maybe. All continue to have a safe and good weekend. :D

This is our weekend to be at my mother-in-law's place this month. Thursday we were helping out with some garden chores for early planting. Today we took her to the doctor for macular degeneration treatment. No fun for her. Usually, these weekends are free of modeling opportunities. However, this is no ordinary weekend. Saturday I will be going to the 31st Washington State Model Train Show & Marketplace. Known regionally as "The Monroe Show." One never knows what treasures await at these things. Certainly, there will be interesting layouts to see. If fortune smiles upon me, I may find one of the rare baubles I seek. Rumor has it that Lowell Smith will be in attendance and may have examples of his new dome cars. Sometimes you find gold, sometimes you go home with nothing but the pocket lint you brought in.

In any case, I will put in a 2-hour shift at the regional NMRA table before heading back to Shelton that evening. If I get time on Sunday, I hope to work on some prototype drawings for the Mikado's boiler. Or I may spend my energy filling the new raised garden bed we built.

    Stay safe,

Sure thing, for the undecorated GP7u without sound and in standard DC: ATHG1490, with Tsunami2 DCC: ATHG1498. Here is a link to the PDF: https://www.athearn.com/on/demandwa...ouncements/march-2024/01_GENHO_GP7_022324.pdf

For the ACF 4600 Covered Hoopers: ATHG-1538: Undecorated Phase I - Low Brake and ATHG-1539: Undecorated Phase II. Here is a link to the PDF: https://www.athearn.com/on/demandwa...024/03_GEN_ACF_4600_Covered_Hopper_022324.pdf

We maybe doing more undecorated rollingstock depending on how these do.
