Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good week and are now ready to get into the workshops and layout rooms. Saturday: I really need to finish the N scale GP30. It is holding me back on so many projects right now and spring is coming which means more time in the garage as tractors, Jeeps and motorcycles will be in line for pre-spring maintenance. My goal is to trudge through this GP30 project with a healthy dose of podcasts and Earl Grey. After that, I may celebrate and take the wife out for dinner and enjoy a cold pint. Sunday: If I finish the GP30 project, I plan to work on the shadow box layout. Because this is protolance layout, I'll be organizing my freight cars by era, type and region. Eventually, cars for this layout will all have body mounted Micro Trains True-Scale couplers, weighted slightly higher then NMRA standards, and semi detailed with Gold Medal Models brake wheels, and stirrups. I also have a Kato NW2 I plan to detail and paint up but for now, my detailed Atlas GP9, B&M 1715 will do fine. We'll see if I can finish this GP30 project. So how about you? What do you have planned for this last weekend of February? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday, the 28th. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always... High Greens!
Happy Friday - Y'all After the past two weekends of no model RRing -- not sure about this one as well. Saturday: Gonna assist my friend with replacing the battery in his Wife's car. From there -- who knows. Sunday -- No specific plans -- so, report on Monday Y'all have a spectacular weekend Wolf
Well I did get trains running. But it's really just the point to point. Maybe with the snow storm I will get trains running on the main line Or perhaps I'll paint a couple of moose today. If moose doesn't mind. my
Good morning from cold and sleety Northeast Ohio! Friday, going to see if we qualify for a drug testing protocol this afternoon, followed by bowling in the evening. Saturday, going to the club to run trains, may get some model building, painting and decaling done in the evening. Sunday, laundry and then complete my Son's tax returns then more model building, painting and decaling. See you all Monday.
Good morning all, Our cat has another vet appointment on Saturday and we will be working on our taxes. This weekend will be the end of this years Trainboard layout party thread so I when I do get a chance to get out to the train room I will push to get as much done as possible. I have been working on a road, some base scenery and removable base plates for several structures. I'll report back on Monday with how far I get. Everyone enjoy the weekend.
I have an Atlas Classic FM16-44 that runs in only one direction. I stripped it down and discovered that a pin on the one of male Universals broke off. I'm actually going to try to repair it. It measures out to about 1/32" of an inch, so I should be able to drill it out and insert a small stub of .03" Piano wire. I'll never be able to find the wire if try cutting it with nippers. I thought about inserting it into the Universal first and trim it with a Dremel cutting wheel, but that could cause the wire to heat up and start to melt the Universal, so instead I'll try clamping it in a hemostat to trim it to size. If successful I'll take and post pics in case any other modelers need to attempt this repair in the future. I'm glad I have a lamp with a magnifier. My 67 year old eyes are starting to not like N scale very much!
Happy Friday. Can really tell what time of the year it is... everyone working on taxes. I have to put my info' together this weekend for the tax guy we use. But that shouldn't take but an hour or 2. As for Model Railroading this weekend, my goals are: 1. Run track cleaning cars on each mainline 2. Clean some cars off the staging track. I have been good about putting cars in the staging yard and not removing them. It has gotten WAY too crowded. 3. Dressing up and improving some scenery areas around the layout. Have a good weekend.
Presently working on an HOn30 caboose. Perhaps after I get my taxes done, (Monday), I will start assembling my module kits, which finally showed up....
GP30's rule! Hoping for a pic. Tax time here. War time elsewhere. Hoping for peace. Right now, working on car markings. So far so good. Working slowly. Then car side assembly. Then more stuff. All have a fun and safe weekend.
We plan to take down the Valentine's Day decorations. Depending on the weather we may try to get some yard clean up done. On the layout I will continue working on the coal yard. I have walls to install, piles of coal, gravel, and sand to make. I need to cut the fence sections to size and place the buildings. There is track to be ballasted for a change of pace.
Hopefully start on dropping the track joiner wires for DCC as well as a few new turn out remote switch wires, in preparation for the terminal blocks, solderless connectors and tidy up ( hopefully ) with the new adhesive wire clips as the Amazon order arrives tomorrow with all the new items I need.
Little late coming into this. Lots of plans this weekend. First I need to finish two Modules. Then I will pull all modules out and start repairs and freshening them up for the next show at the Historical Wendover Airbase Museum in Wendover, UT next month. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's me too, hoping to make progress wiring up the blocks on my (DC/DCC) mainline. I'm trying to do as much as I can at my workdesk to avoid awkward overhead work under the layout. Dripping hot solder on your legs and forearms isn't much fun.
