It's finally here, for some of us, the most productive time of year. Holidays are now behind us, kids are back in school and hopefully our "Honey Do" list are short or none-existent all together. It's time for Weekend Modeling Plans.

I got an early start on my weekend last night. I started tracing the mainline onto a piece of 1/2-inch plywood that will ultimately be my sub roadbed. With Google Earth up on my desktop, I was able to determine how far each riser would be from the edge of the layout. There is a a bit of wiggle room but for the most part, the main will look accurate. For the weekend, I plan to cut the sub-roadbed or trim it, instal the risers and finally the sub-roadbed. I'm hopping to have some cork roadbed installed before the weekend is done, we shall see.

So how about you? What do you plan to do this weekend? Any club open houses? How about train shows? Perhaps staying home with a hot cup of coffee and some layout time is in order. Whatever your goals are, please share them with us! We'll come back on Monday the 13th and see how we all did. Until then, have a happy, safe and productive weekend and...

Our planned ski trip is not going to happen. Penny has a bad cold and needs to stay home, and besides, it's going to rain. Some ski in the rain, but I'm not one of them.

So, it will be a weekend of trains and watching football. A while back I put a couple of Walthers station platform lights into the tannery scene, and really liked the effect. I noticed that they are discontinuing these lights, so I ordered some more and now have them. I'll be putting those in, and probably putting the finishing touches on some of the detailing. There's also a lot of scenic work to do around the tannery, including another pour or two of Envirotex for the pond.

And, wonder of wonders, the U28B that I ordered last spring finally came in. I unpacked it last night, programmed it and ran it around a little. A truck sideframe was broken off, which is not a big deal, but it programs and runs fine, and the lights and sound work. It will take a bit of fine-tuning of CVs before it's fully ready, but for now, welcome aboard, #5510.

I've got three hours or so of road ops on a friend's n scale layout tonight to start off, and probably some time this weekend to catchup on decaling projects that aren't quite finished. Train time will be limited by the annual motorcycle show, however, since I need to go see what's new in two wheels. :)

I *might* paint an HOn30 freight car. Depending upon the NFL playoff games being worth watching...

The World's Greatest Hobby on Tour train show will be in Houston this weekend. I will take my new T-Trak inside corner module to set up with the Rio Grande Valley group.

Spent more time cutting on the Holly tree. I don't think I'm going to cut it down, 40 feet tall with no room and not enough tools to do the job. Just cut it back as much as possible.

Going to tweak trackplans in the morning, doubt much else will get done this weekend.
