Can you believe January is half over? Another fast year perhaps? Better get our things in order, it's Weekend Modeling time!

With my day job now established, my new weekends are Friday and Sunday unless a train show is in the schedule, so my weekend is starting right now. I have a few N scale GP38's I need to work on, mainly detail and I will use the quiet time I have today to sit down and work on them. They were supposed to be Maine Central units, however Microscale no longer makes the decal sheet I need in N anymore. So I'll spend a bit of time looking into what this pair of locomotives will be by reviewing my library of railroads. After 3:30, I resume work on my N scale modules. I'm starting to get behind schedule so I really need to get the track work down on Module two so I can get module three done. I only have six months to get these three modules ready for Galesburg. Saturday is work and Sunday is family day, so any work I get done on the modules Sunday is a bonus.

So how about you? What do you have on your ready board this weekend? Bench work, track work or scenery? Let us know! We'll assemble again on Monday the 19th and see how we all did. Until then, keep it safe, happy railroading and...

    High Greens!

I'll probably do some more work on that Cornerstone Modulars structure. I've got to paint the roof sections and add interior lighting, and then put it together.

The good news is that I was able to locate the break in the thermostat wire going to the train room. Right now, I've run a temporary wire, but over the weekend I'll get out the wire snake and run the replacement through the pipe channel. I feel very blessed that the break is in a relatively accessible place. I thought I would be ripping up the train room walls to run the new one.

After that, I'm going to cut out the new control panel for the staging yard ladder and wire it up so I'll have indicator lights and kill switches for the tracks.

track on the Bufkin's Bayou Bridge passed 75% this week, so I hope to get it all in and done. Then I can post to the Winter Layout Party with some real progress!

Oh, and family obligation requires me to watch Green Bay play this weekend.

I'll be heading over to Gatineau, just across the river from Ottawa, for a small hobby show that usually nets me a couple of interesting items.

The only beef I have with those guys is since I've been attending the show (2008 on), it's only been mild once! Otherwise it's been bitterly cold, and this year is no exception - -25C overnight tonight (close to -15F) and a balmy -17C (0F) as a high tomorrow... brrr... I could use a wee tad of global warming about now...

This will be a busy weekend for me. Train show Saturday and then continue work on my roundhouse.
