We are turning the last set of curves before we reach the destination we have been working towards since Monday, the weekend!

I get a small gift this weekend. Girlfriend Angela and son will be heading to Springfield Illinois to spend the entire Saturday shopping off gift cards they got for Christmas. This gives me a full day of quiet and no interruptions, so I plan to spend my Saturday working on train related projects. My first project will be to go to Menards again and pick up some wire, 1/8-inch hardboard and more dimensional lumbar for the up coming module project. Over this past week, I was able to get the sub roadbed installed on to Potter Place, then Tuesday, I got the cork roadbed down.

If Saturday is productive, I would like to get the two Tortoise machines installed, main line track and siding tracks installed and the end fascia installed. With any luck, I might have an engine running on the module by Saturday night. It is also the time of year where I do my shop clean up. I have a lot of projects coming into the shop from now until Galesburg so now is the time. I plan to re-arrange the shop and bring my spray booth into the office/work shop. It has been on our front porch but last year while painting, this location became too much of a pain. Hopefully a quiet and productive Saturday. Sunday I will probably be relegated to domestic duties.

So how about you? What will this weekend find you doing? Track work, shop work, maybe a bit of painting? Whatever your plans may be, be sure to let us know. We'll all come back on Monday the 20th to see how we all did. Until then, have a happy, safe and productive weekend and...

We will be preparing for our ski trip to Whistler next week. One thing I've got to do is arrange to have a light bulb burning in the crawl space beneath the kitchen sink. We've had a pipe freeze problem there this year. It's a short-term thing easily cured with a hair dryer each cold morning, but we'll be away for a week, the heat in the house will be turned down, and I don't want that sort of thing to lead to a burst pipe.

But, I hope to make some small progress, anyway. During the week, I was able to get turf in place on the plaster cloth around the tannery liftoff. The liftoff gap runs close to the bottom of this picture:

Right now, the gap, covered with plaster cloth, Gypsolite and now paint and turf, has not been disturbed, so it really can't be seen. The next step is to add ground foam and some static grass. Once that's dried in place, I can actually lift off the tannery section and see how well the gap is hidden when I put it back in place.

Meanwhile, I need another pour, maybe two, of Envirotex in the pond. That area, too, needs ground foam and static grass beforehand, and some touch-up afterwards around the edges.

Weather permitting - so far nothing serious is in the forecast - I'll be heading over to a small train/hobby show in Gatineau, across the river from Ottawa, on Saturday, for my regular train fix.

Then again, the weather folks didn't see the freezing rain coming last weekend, just 12 hours in advance...:eek:hboy:

Finally found a replacement for the switches I couldn't find. Since they are coming mail order I won't have them for a week so. So all modeling projects on hold until next weekend.
