Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. I don't know about you, but for me the summer has flown by and it shows no signs of slowing down. Let's see what everyone has on their model railroad to do list.

Friday: After work I hope to get a cover coat of black paint applied to the fascia of the module stands, I built last weekend as well as get the first coat of poly on the middle leg.

Saturday: I'll start the morning with a hot cup of coffee and head into the workshop. After a full night of curing, I'll apply a second coat of paint to the module stand fascia and second coat of poly to the leg. Once Ang and I are cleaned up, we'll be taking the Falcon to her dads for the exhaust manifold gasket work that will not be started until September now. We'll visit and I'm sure grab either lunch or dinner before picking up the Mustang and coming home. Any time left will be spent on working on the HO layout.

Sunday: Hopefully after coffee I will apply the last coats of fascia paint and poly to the module stand project and call that job done. After that I'll be getting the layout ready for its trip to the St. Louis RPM next Friday and subsequent trip to New Hampshire. Ang and I will probably take a short ride on the motorcycle with a dinner destination. I have not had time to ride the motorcycle since June when we were in NH. After that I'll need to get ready for my trip to New Hampshire as I leave right after the St. Louis RPM.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 24th to see how we all have done. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

No model railroading this weekend-still lots to do to settle into the house. Finished painting the interior yesterday so now I can start putting up pictures and other wall hanging stuff and finish unpacking.

I also need to put a shed together and do some maintenance on my boat. Another couple of weeks of this and I should be back on “track”!!!

Happy Friday all. Going to be a scorcher here in NC this weekend. So my main plan is to put the train room AC through its paces. That having been said, the potential plans this weekend are wiring up the new control panel to the layout (during the week I painted it and got it mounted on the layout).... also framing up one corner to support cardboard/plaster framework for mountains at the coal branch, or I may finish the elevated track structure "deck" portion and take it outside and spray it. Lots of choices. We'll find out Monday what I actually worked on. Not sure yet.

Most of all, have a great weekend!!

    Good morning all,

Things to do around the layout this weekend include repairing a broken point rail that was discovered last night. Then I will be re-numbering a hopper car. This car was modeled as a patch and I have already removed the patch so just need to re-patch. May start a pair of control panels for a friend's layout. Everyone enjoy your weekend whatever you are doing.

With hot summer weather upon us, I'll be inside with the A/C and hope to finish trimming my Rubber Rocks and begin experimenting with painting them.

Tonight. It has been a long week at work with staying late each day. I feel like I want crash when I get home, but I know that won’t happen. There will be something waiting for me. If time and body permit, I have more rolling stock to tune up and inventory. I could also stare at the station and image what the roads will look like around it.

Saturday is now up in the air. I may have to work. If I don’t or if I do and when I get home, we have several pots that the pansies in them are done for the season. We need to run to the nursey and get something to replace them. I am hoping if I must work my daughter can take my wife plant shopping. Again, if I work and depending on how I feel afterwards I may tune up and inventory some cars. I would also like to run some trains.

Sunday should be planting day or it maybe running to get the plants day. I will need to make a grocery store run at some point. Then there is always some laundry to toss around. I would like to begin laying out the roads around the station. Hopefully I will finally be caught up on this round of rolling stock tuning up and inventorying.

Modules almost ready. (y) RSD's almost ready. (y) "Back on track"! I get it! :p Gotta' have Polka! (y) Hot in NC with "options". Broken point rail. Very odd. :cautious: Rubber rocks almost sounds like a safety feature. I hate long work weeks with late stays. (I heard "laundry".) This week has been barely "crunching along". o_O Some chores. I caught a fish. (Yes. Just one. :() Very hot. Earlier today I began to try to laser cut cab sides. Dimensions got very off spec. I am now backtracking to fix the problem. The laser cuts were supposed to speed things up. I hope everyone can be cool and have a great weekend. :D

It's one of those wait and see type of weekends. Not really sure what all the wife has planned so I'll work around whatever. Should I get time, may work on redoing some wiring.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Week 1 of my vacation is already over. Street light project is done and I'm rarin' to go to the next items on the list.

I'll take some action on my two loco projects, the SD40-2W de-DCCing operation and the repaint of a GP7 to CN 4801, including new lighting.

There are also a couple of preserved CPR stations up north at Val-David and St-Faustin I'd like to see and click my camera at. Street View shows them in reasonable condition. A nice little day trip! :)

And when I'm bored and it's awful outside (either too hot or raining hard enough to soak a duck), I have a substantial hoard of freight car kits to assemble.

Writing this in Pacific Fabrics, Seattle. My wife’s favorite fabric store. From here we are headed to Doyle’s Pub in Tacoma to watch the World Cup match. Then we pick up our son at SeaTac before returning to Bellingham.

Saturday is preparation for next week’s travel. If that goes well I might have some time for the MRC Pacific project.

Sunday we are off to Shelton for the remainder of the weekend.

    Stay safe,

Well it's been over 100 degrees every day for over a week now and I saw some expansion pressure showing on my #8 crossover on the main in Fontana. This is a garage project so I knew what I was up against as I have done it before. Since this was my first all painted benchwork endeavor I laid all the track without any expansion gaps to compare to past projects. I will head out there and cut some staggered diagonal gaps to facilitate the expansion. I'm a bit disappointed, but looking back at my larger layouts I would have had tracks popping up out of the glue and snake like mains by now. Every year had new areas to repair with those projects. I still need to get inside the helix to see the effects of the heat. Hopefully there is enough floating track to allow for the expansion. We will see.

I plan to work on turnout builds inside where the AC is for the rest of the weekend. Who knows what else may get done. Not a big hit list but will be satisfying.

I just don't tolerate the heat as I once did. That said I deliver bottled water and the weekdays have become intolerant, especially when they assign me a convenience store with over 200 units to break down and stack. That's along with my regular route assignments. Time to look toward the transport department and stop handling the product.

This weekend will be more of the same, I hope to paint some cars that I have been putting off as I could not find the paint but I found it last night. The paint is so old as it is a 2 oz Scalecoat II that had a price sticker of $3.50!

Going to the club on Saturday morning and run some trains with the other guys. I started another Tichy coal hopper ki and hope to finish it. Also have a Red Caboose X29 to decal along with a GP7.

Hopefully painting my new set of HOn30 log cars. I dusted off my T-Trak modules and have them up and running again. Maybe I'll work on a structure needed for a scene on one of those... Plenty I can do. Just need to get seat time at the work bench and get at it!

My son works in Denver and their parking garage was used for the Swift concert there. They all left at 2:00 in the afternoon to clear the garage, spaces were going for $750 for the concert.

Having the choice to run trains or work on the layout is always tough for me.

So I went out to the garage mid morning to check out the helix and ended up taking apart some of the freemoN modules that were in the way. Once I had them out they weren't going back in. So 15' yard and a 45ish degree desert mountain curve are toast. I salvaged 16 turnouts to add to the garage layout project. After the heat started to intensify I cleaned up and took a quick look from inside the helix. I was pleasantly surprised how solid the track appeared. One section had a side to side(lateral) kink that didn't look so bad. I will test with a train once I get some track laid on the lower level.

Model Railroading is fun once you have solutions to avoid some issues.
