Welcome back to the Gateway to the weekend from the Gateway to the West! I'm in Collinsville IL this morning for the annual St. Louis RPM meet and looking forward to seeing some great models and hopefully keep my wallet safe. Let's get started.

Friday: As mentioned above I'm here for the St. Louis RPM meet so once done here, I'll get cleaned up and head over to the Gateway Center and set up the Athearn Booth along with the layout I showed Monday and start day one of the show. The show goes on into the evening but I'll shut down along with other manufacturers and vendors at 5:00 and catch up with some friends over dinner.

Saturday: Day two of the meet. The only down side of working the show is you miss all the great clinics. This years theme is the layout and there are some great clinics going on. Too bad they don't live stream or record them. The show will end at 4:00 so I'll pack up the layout and booth, head back home and pack up the items for the National Train Show, head into Champaign and set out all the major booth items and display items for our shipping manager to ship to Texas for the National Train Show in August. Once home, I'll probably find a sofa.

Sunday: I'll need to pack and get a few things ready for my return to NH. I'll ready the Mustang for the trip and get a few things taken care of around the homestead but will mainly spend the day with Ang.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday, the 31st to see how we all did. If your in St. Louis for the RPM, please stop by and say hi. Until then, have a great weekend, stay cool, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

This afternoon my wife and daughter are going to see the Barbie Movie. After spending much of the day outside I will most likely stay in the air conditioning. There is some laundry to do.

Saturday is supposed to be hot and humid before the rain comes. If I am up early enough, I may go outside and trim the Hosta since they are done flowering. I also have some plants to move around and replant a couple of pots. Once the heat starts to ramp up, I will be inside. I have more laundry to do and the floors in the foyer and living room to do a heavy cleaning. We need to run to the produce store and the grocery store. I also will need to run to Delaware to get gas.

Sunday will be doing whatever did not get done Saturday.

Any modeling I can do will consist of working on Rapido PRR F30D flat cars. Last night I tried to run a trailer train using my two Reading Bowser C-630 locomotives that I converted to DCC the day before. However, I encountered problems with the Rapido flat cars. Two cars uncoupled and all four cars were not running smoothly. I examined the cars and found that two of them had broken couplers. The couplers looked fine, but they were not staying closed when the train was moving. Examining the wheels, I found out they were not moving freely in the trucks.

I want to finish making up and running the trailer train with or without the Rapido flat cars. I have been trying to run the train all week without any success. I have a few cars that need couplers changed. Maybe I might even layout the street pattern around the Union Station.

    Happy Friday all!

We have two sites getting system upgrades on Saturday so that is going to consume most of Friday and all of Saturday. Sunday will most likely be spent recovering from an extra long week. If I'm up to it, may see what I can get into on the layout Sunday afternoon, maybe.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Good morning... happy weekend all! This weekend will be cut short in the train room/work shop due to having family over for dinner tomorrow night. I will be "drafted" for various honey-do's for sure... and maybe a few honey-don'ts as well. But I digress. Time permitting this weekend I hope to continue working on the mountain structure I started last weekend. Specifically, I have 3 tunnels that will be in that area so I will work on the portal installations and about 10" or so of "liner" at each one. We'll see how much gets done.

Have a great weekend all and stay cool.

Good morning from sunny and hot Northeast Ohio!

Going to stay in from the heat today so I will get some decaling done on a number of cars including a covered hopper, 50' boxcar, tank car along with building some more kits and masking some trailers for a second coat of paint.

Saturday will not be going to the club so will do some house cleaning and other chores as the temperatures will be moderating downward, but will be continuing the work on the above cars.

Sunday, there is a furniture sale locally and we will be going to look at some new living room furniture along with doing the laundry.

Today is my daughter’s big adventure as they move from Pasadena to Vancouver, WA.

I ended up bowling in a summer league this year and last Monday nite I had the best scores in the last few years 219-244-236 for a 699 series.

    Good morning everyone.

Last Tuesday while working on a household project I injured my left thumb bad enough for a trip to the urgent care. So right now I am just a bit limited in dexterity with the bandages. I will do what I can on the controls for my friends staging yards. I have also been running trains more these past few days and enjoying operations. Will be working on some more car card and way bills at the computer.

Everyone enjoy your weekend whatever you are doing.

After three weeks away for my daughter's wedding, grass cutting will be the order of the weekend. It will be a slow process as we remain under high heat warnings here on the coast. I have new cars from Rapido to add to the fleet, a myriad of electronic and scenery projects to work on, and patches and stickers that @Pastor John sent me from the Sebring MRRC that I need to deploy. Oh and tot op it off the kids started school today, so I expect more school supply shopping . . . .

Gotta' keep the wallet safe! (y) I hate coupler and wheel problems. RSD-15's ready! Fingers crossed for Sunday progress. Tunnel bores in progress. ;) I spy with my little eye... a covered hopper! Sad for injured thumb. Happy for running trains. :) @Philip H, maybe a robot lawn mower? This week has been unusually hectic. Seems that little got done somehow. However, the cab sides are attached to the cab floors. I also have a working plan for the cab roofs. This was somewhat time consuming. :cautious: I should be in all weekend due to the heat so maybe...? All be cool and fun. :D

My back is still bothering, a lot. Far from the first time with such issues. Anyhow, I did manage to get my HOn30 log cars painted this week. Over the weekend, I need to try getting trucks painted and ready to install. Then decals...

The things we do so we can get away with doing nothing else but run trains. There is no such thing as throttle thumb injuries. Wait, maybe there is if you were riding one of those old three wheeled ATC's with the balloon tires.

I hope your thumb heals up quick.
