We're moving at a fast pace through the month of June, what do you have on your Ready Board? No trains for me this weekend as I will be fully involved in soccer all weekend, starting tonight. I plan to extract my revenge later by draging both girlfriend and boy out of bed at an un-godly hour during vacation to railfan the Vermont Railway next month. So how about you? What do you have planned? Track work, stucture painting, DCC? Let us know. We'll all come back on Monday the 9th to see how we all did. One last thing, today is the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landing, an important page in mankind's history. Please take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made during this pivotal point in the War and thank a Vet. Until Monday, High Greens!
D-Day is a dual memory for me. First is to remember the invasion, and second is to remember....my wife's birthday! Yeah, I've got a card for her. Nothing special planned. She's decided to take this week and go on a vegetarian diet with no beer or wine, so that kind of puts a damper on celebrating. Hmmmmm....maybe I can convice her to visit the Indian restaurant one town over. I've got the "rogue" trucks for one of my passenger cars repainted. I had to replace one of the originals, which broke, and the only one I had was black instead of silver. They're ready to go now. The car bodies are painted, so all I've got to do is solder in some more flexible wires to replace the ones that broke and put those 2 cars back together. Then I'll pull the other 3 from service and start all over. That should go much faster, as I now know where I need primer, and the nameplates are already made up. With the new burgundy stripe on the cars, they should look great behind Gigi the GG-1. Last night I did a bit of touch up on the Yellow Brick Road and glued the tanker platform in place. I replaced the big liftoff section where I had to "prarie dog" it to get to those scenes, and started to run some trains. There is just one small scene left right now. I need to do another Hydrocal casting or two, but the last of the pink foam will be gone in a couple of weeks. Time to buy the lumber for Phase 3. And, time to find some drink holders to hang on the benchwork. There's no place anymore to sit a bottle of India Pale Ale.
I think I'm going to pack up most of my remaining HO equipment. Going to haul them out for storage in my grandmother's outbuilding (insulated, cool and dry). Need to get old layout removed, can do that until the HO is gone. Pretty sure the N scale is just a temporary thing, already not "doing it" for me, which explains the new fascination with On30. Getting the HO out makes progress but allows me time to make up my mind. Sent from my LG-P930 using Tapatalk 2
More work on the roundhouse for me. Want to get the walls put together and start assembling the trusses. That would be a realistic goal. I posted a picture in "The Pit", hope Monday's shows real progress. Bobby
