Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! No, we are not going to crash, but it feels so good to say May. Although the state of Illinois has not gotten the message, my heat is still on and its just a hair above freezing outdoors.

For the first time in a while, I have a three day weekend and I plan to spend a large percentage of it on TRAINS. Saturday, I'll be picking up my Railfan bud, Brian for a day of Railfaning the Transcon from Toluca to Galesburg. This is the trip we usually make on Good Friday but the weather was the worst it had been in years and he was not feeling well. After almost a month, we are supposed to get full sun and temps at a more normal level of 75 degrees. Sunday, Jared has two games in nearby Champaign but in between those games that day, I hope to get some things accomplished. The two mystery GP38's are done in the detail shop and are ready for paint. Had a few good guesses last week as to what they are but no right answers. They'll get a coat of Caboose Red and black before receiving a green diamond. I would really like to finish the decals on them this weekend too. Monday I have off and I plan to spend the morning doing some writing before transitioning into any work that needs to be done on the two GP38's. I also plan to get some work done on my newest T-Trak module that I want done for the Ohio N scale Weekend. Of course, work on the Galesburg Modules is mandatory as well. All in all, a busy three day weekend.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We had a bunch of great posts here on Monday, keep it up! We'll come back on Monday the 4th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and...

    High Greens!

I finally finished wiring my crossing gates during the week. I had a tooth pulled yesterday, and Doctor Cynthia told me not do any strenuous activity or eat any chewy or warm foods, so wiring up phototransistors while eating ice cream fit the prescription.

I've started gluing down roadbed and track on Phase 3 of my layout. Most of this section is just a staging yard, but there's one scenic track out front which will get the full treatment. Once I get to the far end, I'll fit the tracks for the turntable which is already in place, but still needs to be fastened down.

I am thinking about running to the local hobby store and picking up some hydrocal and working on one of my hillsides. I have the mold and there is one area along the track that I am not happy with at all, want to get some more realistic rocks in and get ground cover around them.

Supposed to be nice weather so maybe not get anything done.

Oh, it is indeed good to finally say May! The weather is outstanding and the temptation of fresh, warm air (hovering between 65 and 70F) might draw me away from a GTW GP18 I'm working on.

Listening to the NFL Draft, and maybe working on an HOn30 critter which has been sitting there a couple of years now.
