We've made it through again, just this last few hours before we can say it's the weekend and start on all the projects we have lined up in the train shop. Unfortunately for the unforeseeable future, my Friday's working for Wiggin Locomotive Works will be on hold. One of the employees at the shop I work part time at, stormed out earlier this week and those who are left are doing what we can until a replacement can be found. That means Saturday will be the new full day to get things done for customers and this Saturday will be e-mailing them letting them know of the delays. Sunday, we have our bi-annual train show in Peoria so my friend Brian and I will attend as we always do. He wants to show me his results of building an Inglenook switching module in 2-rail O before we drive to our favorite Dinner for breakfast. It is a small show and I almost never purchase anything but it is fun to see all my friends and have impromptu Bull Sessions. What ever time I have left on Sunday, I plan to work on the module. I have had one #5 turnout that has been problematic off and on now for the last 9 months. I've spent hours trying to fix the short from the frog to the rail in one direction only to have no real results. I may just get mad and tear the old turnout out and install a new one. Not looking forward to it but what do you do? So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? This is our last weekend before the season that I call "Holiday Madness" descends upon us. Let us know what you want to accomplish. We'll come back here on Monday the 21st to see how we have all done. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and... High Greens!
My wife surprised me with two new rolling stock display cases, so I'll be hanging those this weekend. I had mentioned offhand that I could use another, so she decided to go one better. I might get a chance to run some trains for a while, but nothing major is planned. Other than that, I've got a rocket launch to attend on Saturday. I'll be working as part of the range crew, and a team of students that I'm mentoring are supposed to come out too and fly some model rockets just for fun.
Football here as well. Miami Hurricanes coming to town tomorrow, 12:30 KO. Between AM tailgating and afternoon game, won't be spending anytime in the trainroom tomorrow. HOWEVER, I'll be off next week for T'Giving so my weekend gets stretched out to 7 days. I'll definitely wind up on the mainline track where plywood is down and I'll use that chunk of time to both get a good jump on wiring as well as time at the workbench with a large bridge I have in the works. Have a great weekend all.
A friend and I are going to The San Francisco International Auto Show on Sunday. One of my favorites shows and the final car show of the year. Supposed to be raining all weekend, but hopefully that will warm the temps up. It's 39 here at 8:30 am. Brrrr!
I'm gonna continue with the ground cover. Work on the ranch. Painting the barn and other out buildings. Perhaps work on more foundations. The plywood is shrinking!! Hope ya'll have a great weekend, Wolf
Hmm... fairly busy social weekend, but I hope to spend some time installing slide-switch turnout throws throughout the layout. I have about 35 of them to install, so it's a "chip away at it bit by bit" sort of job. I'm also dusting off the Christmas train cars and giving them a test run on the new layout. I'm hoping to have the train looping the layout in demo mode during Thanksgiving weekend.
