Can you believe the weekend is almost here once again? Lets get started!

Saturday: After a week of furry, cute and rambunctious distractions thanks to our new family member, I have plans of getting that module done. Everything is cut, now I just need to get holes drilled. With the new drill press, this will be an easy affair. I still need to document everything so the next four modules go together easily and and have a uniform finish. Lucy will be out in the shop with me, she needs to get used to the sound of power tools so now is as good of a time as any.

Sunday: We plan on taking Lucy to the pet super store for a few supplies as well as toys. Any time left will hopefully allow me to work on Trainfest activities. The Galesburg City Job will be one of the layouts that will be featured in the Junior Engineer Program. With that in mind, I need to work on a few things to help plant the seed of operations in young minds! I also need to work on the Kato switchers and get a switchlist together.

So how about you? What do you have planned this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble once again on Monday the 23rd. Until then, have a great model weekend, stay safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Free-moNebraska is operational for the Beatrice Model Train Show this weekend! A few cosmetic things to wrap up in the morning (skirts and buildings and such), then we finally get to operate the new yard and lead extension modules! (shown below with white fascia)

I'm making trees... trying, at least... ;)

It's a Woodland Scenics tree kit, about two dozen in there, and all I can say for now about the process is one word: messy.

The ground foam supplied seems to be more suited to ground cover than foliage. I have a couple of bags of clump foliage, so I'll try that on my second attempt (after the first attempt - the best description is scruffy - has finished drying, and after I've finished cooling off *swearing in two languages generates a lot of heat*...)

I bought one of those kits about a year ago, the Woodland Scenics tree kit, I think it was 32 or 36 in the package. I also cursed a little but than realized that I am not as picky about the tree's, that the young ones would be playing with them when they came over ( which they do ), and that it is much better than making them from scratch, for me :)

Also, bought some cheap lumber to make leg's for the 2' x 4' section on the dresser. Will be doing that today, Sunday!

Was too lazy to take a picture of just the Woodland Scenics tree's :) Also, will be straightening up the Just Plug light wires, and the hub for them. Gonna try to attempt to drill a hole and mount the Just Plug Hub underneath and adjust knobs with a screw driver if it works out correctly. BTW, those adjustment knobs have kind of a gear on them, surely there is a knob that you can buy for them? They are tiny and very close together for fat fingers!

Gonna try and make a temporary shelf for the Bachmann DCC unit too!

in2tech - that "kind of gear" is the grip for the knob, the same thing as what's on an outdoor faucet for the garden hose (if you've ever changed one of those knobs, you'll know what I mean). That's probably a standard size, so you can get knobs for the adjustment controls at any electronics surplus outlet.

And that first tree looks a lot better this morning (a good night's sleep helps rid one's self of the pickies). I gave it a coating of clear matte finish to help hold on to the foliage.
