Welcome to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good week and are ready to get started on your model railroad projects. Let's dive right in.

Friday: With two live feeds this past week, and working many hours, I'm leaving work at noon today. I pre-recorded the Athearn November Announcements video, so it goes up automatically at 3:00pm central today. It is supposed to be unseasonably warm today, close to 80 but between 5:00pm and midnight the temps will drop 20 degrees and that will probably be the end on the warm weather for 2023. I hope to get a few odds and ends done in the garage before the cold.

Saturday: The cylinder head from the Falcon will be finished today at the machine shop which I wasn't expecting. I figured they would have it longer. I ordered new parts this past week, but they will not be here until the following week, so no playing with cars this weekend. That said, Angela's dad needs to pick up his truck he dropped off last weekend from the Ford garage for maintenance. We'll likely repeat what we did last weekend. This time however I need to get to the big box lumber store and get a few more sheets of 1/8-inch hard board and sky-blue paint for the shadow box.

Sunday: Forecast says mid 50s which means I can pull the car out of the garage and with my heater, be comfortable. I need to install the backdrop on my shadow box and get it ready for paint. Ideally, I would paint it in the garage, but I may just paint it upstairs. I need to remove the air conditioner in my office next door and while the window is open, I can put a fan in to help pull out the paint fumes. The hard board I pick up Saturday will be the top, sides and fascia to the shadow box and if I'm lucky, I may get that painted too. Of course, plans are subject to change based on the schedule and or requests of my domestic Goddess, but I'll never complain as she treats me very well and is very supportive of my model railroad and car hobby.

So how about you? What do you have planned for this last weekend in October? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 30th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

This weekend we’ve got a bunch of Halloween events of tonight and Saturday; also on Saturday we have a soccer game, a volleyball game, and a virtual baby shower for my youngest sister who lives out in Oregon now. So I’m not going to get anything moving on the hobby front until Sunday.

I’ve got to see what’s left growing in the garden and then I might pack it in for the year and do all the weed killing/weed prevention I thought I’d do last weekend.

After that I might fiddle more with my track plan and sketch out structure placement. I had an epiphany on my way to work yesterday on a scene I want to do of a freelanced urban renewal/gentrification Chicago scene with former industrial buildings repurposed for other uses. I’ve got a couple of Bralick kits that will become office space and now I’m going to add a microbrewery in using the Allied Rail Rebuilders kit-I’d love to do an interior with the rail door open so you can see some fermentation tanks and tables. I was going to do a fall/winter setting so this thing might even have a little Oktoberfest party!

    Happy Friday to Y'all,

After about a month and half of being on MRRing hiatus. (My Niece and her husbands visit - then our camping trip). I hope to get back to my workbench. Mainly to put away stuff from my last few project. And - to decide my next project - decisions - decisions!!

Y'all have a great and very productive weekend,
    Wolf

Not a lot of RR plans for this weekend beyond reorganizing my "stuff" so I can start planning the building of my new modular layout, specifically the benchwork for the first couple modules.

I'm also expecting two packages with electronics parts over the weekend and two more sometime next week with PCBs for the layout and for the Amherst show in Jan. I'll share more details on them soon.

Happy Friday!!!!!! Ready to hear that Flintstones end of the week whistle to blow. Been a long stress filled week at work but a successful week. Lots of calls and meetings to day to wrap up some things and have to fit in an appointment with the doctor for a foot issue I am having. After work, need to run a couple of errands and get down to the work bench and see what else I have that I need to get painted outside since the weather is looking good for that this weekend.
Saturday, I hope to spend the morning in the train room with a pot of coffee and see what I can get into. There are a couple of spots on the layout where have fence just set in place and it needs to be finished up so might just tackle that. Then it will be time to tackle some yard work. Not really a lot, have been accumulating a big pile of limbs that have fallen since that spring so need to get those all cleaned up and gone. We also have an excess of pine cones that need to be picked up and relocated to somewhere other than my back yard. The mailbox needs a new coat of paint so that will happen along with painting anything I have for the workbench or layout projects that I can get started. Then have some lumber in the garage to use for raising the height of the layout that needs to go down to the basement so should be able to get that moved. That should pretty much be a day full!
Sunday will again start with coffee, a weekly post here, and then trains. What didn't get done Saturday will roll to Sunday. Should be another good weather day so possibly additional painting and might even start cutting parts from the lumber. Also need to find a little time to just kick back for a bit before another busy week starts.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

The wife and I had a good relaxing cruise vacation. We got to visit Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire. It was something we both needed. Our biggest issue was when American Airlines lost my wife’s wheelchair at Philadelphia International Airport. They did find it after we got a couple of supervisors involved. It still took them about a hour to get it back to us.

We have basically been unpacking and getting back into our routine. We were finally able to get my wife her monjaro after looking for it for the better part of a month. There is a nation-wide shortage due to unscrupulous doctors prescribing it for weight loss, thus making difficult for people with diabetes to get the medication which is only authorized for diabetes patients.

This afternoon I have to go to the hospital to get an injection in my hip to hopefully ease the pain I have been experiencing.

This weekend we have some running to do to the grocery store, produce store, and to Kohl’s for an Amazon return. There is a suitcase full of dirty laundry to deal with. I may begin bringing in some of the outdoor stuff in preparation for winter. The issue there is the garage needs cleaning out and organizing.

I would like to get some locomotives speed matched so I can run a long trailer train. After that I have to decide what to work on next. I may start a new building for the city or layout some streets or do some ballasting.

Good morning from partly cloudy and warm Northeast Ohio!

Today, I hope to get my Tangent Covered Hopper kit painted now that it is all assembled. I also hope to start decaling an Atlas FMC 5077CF Boxcar kit, then it is off to bowling this evening.

Saturday, we have our monthly club meeting and maybe an op session after the meeting. In the evening I will be decaling the above two cars while continuing the assembly of a Tangent Bethlem 52' gon kit. Will need to find the next boxcar I want to work on.

Sunday, after doing laundry will be finishing the decaling on the two cars and whatever else I can find, like completing the GP9 that has been sitting on my work bench for the last couple of months.

    Good morning everyone,

It's turning cooler here so outdoor tasks this weekend will include putting away the patio furniture and finish clearing away what's left of the vegetable garden.

Yesterday some electronics materials I have been waiting for arrived so I can start wiring up the control panels for my friend's staging yard. The paint dried on the Ntrak staging yard but as I was assembling it into it's storage configuration I noticed another end plate that was broken loose. So I secured it adding blocks in the corners then decided to touch up the small bit of scenery that is on one of the modules so this project is still going on at least through this weekend.

Wishing you all a relaxing and fun weekend.

Good morning all. Weekend plans will be trying to finish up "SL Cabin" plus some other miscellaneous chores. Tomorrow (Saturday) will be consumed w/ football with Clemson coming to town for a 2:00PM KO. We'll head out to tailgating around 10:30AM so tomorrow is "shot" as it were.

The cabin is coming along. Needs the railing work finished, the corbels under the soffit, paint touch up, some minor detail parts on the windows and doors, and mounting to a base for placing on the layout.

    Have a great weekend all!!

I know this shadow box project will be worth the wait. (y) I like model railroad epiphanies. (Hooray for my spelling this correctly!) Yep. We all gotta' make decisions. Ah, mystery packages. Just in time for Halloween. ;) Morning in the train room. Does it get any better? I hope the hip improves greatly. (y) Covered hopper and a GP9! Exciting! Module maintenance time. (y) SL Cabin looks snazzy. As far as myself, I am still working on passenger car running gear. I may mix in some car parts making as well. :sneaky: The Fall Smokey City Rails Train Show is today and tomorrow. :) Located at the sports complex in Helena, Alabama. I plan to go Saturday. All have a fine weekend. :D

I am working on resetting all 10 throwbars in my Fontana branchline. I replaced caboose throws with a shorter throw to reduce strain on the solder joints. I moved to 206S(.130 throw) from 218S(.170 throw) but this change requires some fine tuning of the point rails.
I also now have some rail joiners so plan to work on some yard tracks. I am sure of the plan, but won't glue anything down until I come back to it from time to time to observe first impressions.
We'll see how this goes. I am supposed to be working on the house.

I use Fast Tracks turnouts so I can adjust with a bit of heat and NMRA gage. I also use tiny screws to secure the caboose throws to make it easy. I finished this project and moved onto the yard.

I found it easier to assemble the A/D ladder and position it until I was happy with the slight curve back to the main line. Once the glue dries I can move onto positioning the classification ladder and feeder tracks.
