We're pulling into the fall and soon holiday season. Hmmm, that may limit our quality train time. Better kick it into notch eight!

With my four days of looking for work behind me, I'm ready to pick up where I left off last weekend. The goal is to model the industrial area of Galesburg in around 1965. While it is hard to tell now, there was once a lot of manufacturing in this area, including Galesburg Soy (now ADM), Admiral (Maytag), Butler Buildings, Galesburg Manufacturing and more. There are six modules in all, three that are mine and three for my fellow modeler. When combined they will simulate this area of Galesburg with only a minimal amount of selective compression. Four modules boxes are done, two are standing on their own. I have 1.5X1.5 inch legs rough cut that need to be sanded and braces installed. I have two modules that have been in my home office since last fall that were going to be the B&M modules. After some thought, these will be transferred to the Galesburg project. So I need to update these two modules to the new module specs and get all six modules ready for track by the end of the month for when my fellow modeler shows up.

The track plans are about all done and even just my three will keep me busy with an NW2 for at least an hour.

Should keep me busy all weekend.

So how about you? What plans do you have? Perhaps some track planning? Track laying? Maybe some last minute painting before the cold comes in? Whatever your plans are this weekend, let us know! We'll come back on Monday the 6th to see how we all did. Until then, have a happy and safe weekend and...

    High Greens!

Last night, I spent a few minutes applying plaster cloth across foam gaps. Tonight I'll paint over the white cloth, and tomorrow I'll be ready to lay some track for the staging yard throat. This will be slow going, as the first stretch is all turnouts which will be getting Tortoises. So, they've got to be positioned properly and then the Tortoises will need to be mounted. For now, I've got a DS64 stationary decoder to drive all 4 of them, so there will be wiring in my weekend, too, including those green wires to the frogs.

If there's time or I tire of turtles and frogs, I may do a bit more scenery work on the liftoff bridge.

And Sunday is the first train show of the fall season! I've missed train shows, as we have none during the summer months, so I'm planning to enjoy this one.

Saturday is the first edition of the North Shore Train Show here (Salon du Train Rive Nord), and I will attend! They have a really big location, in a sports arena, and they plan to expand next year if things go well.

So the Train Pervert will be skulking around looking for bargains and generally drooling over the rest.;)

Time to do some more track work and stink the house up with glue fumes. Also gotta light a fire under my son to finish the structure he started three weeks ago.

So B&M work is officially mothballed? Or retired altogether?

No sir. The beauty of the design I came up with is that none of the work I started on Potter Place NH will be destroyed. The module that it is currently on will be re-done to fit my new measurements and will indeed become one of the new Galesburg modules, but from the 1X3 risers up, all sub roadbed, roadbed and track will be intact. I will build a special module just for Potter Place in the not so distant future and will make it a stand alone display layout. Small as it is however, it will take a while to complete since all the structures will have to be scratch built from plans, photos and measurements I took on multiple trips.
