Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good week and are ready to get some work done on the railroad. Let's get started and see what we have planned.

Friday: I get off work early so I'm planning on going to my not so local hobby shop and see what he has that I may want for the layouts. I haven't visited since May or June so it will be nice to stop in and catch up.

Saturday: I plan to try and start early and head to my favorite hardware store where you "save big money" and pick up the lumber I need for the construction of the N scale shadowbox as well as some shelving for the workshop. Once home, we plan to take the Mustang up north to Angela's dad's and switch the Mustang for the Falcon as I need it next week for work. I was hoping to get the manifold gasket replaced but summer had other ideas. I'll have to do that later in the year. Let's hope I'm not putting the Mustang in for winter storage, it's too soon. Once we get back, we'll be heading over to a friend and fellow N scale modeler for dinner with he and his wife. While the women talk, he will be showing me his plans for the N scale layout he intends to build.

Sunday: I hope to start construction of the new shadowbox for the N scale layout. I'll first sleep in, then make coffee and start cleaning up the shop. I have a lot of items that need to be put away as well as scraped. I hope to get this done by noon so I can start construction. Depending on how far I get, I may have the shadowbox installed in the shop and ready for paint for a future weekend. I need to hurry however as the days are getting cooler and shorter and days working in the garage are slowly coming to a close.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 9th to see how we all have done. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and as always...

Friday- I have today off because I’ll have to work on Monday, which is a federal holiday. Today I’ll recover from being up late last night at the Bears-Commanders game last night. You can guess from my handle who I was rooting for, so it was a great night. Took me almost two hours to commute home from FedEx Stadium. It was half full of Bears fan last night so a lot of fun. I hadn’t been to a game since 2019 due to COVID/living in Japan.

My wife and I will probably do a date lunch while the kids are in school and I’ll run around and do errands. Maybe I’ll fiddle with my track plan and clear my work bench.

Saturday-both my daughters have games, but between them I’ll try to finish up winterizing my boat. Afterwards, more fiddling with my track plan.

Sunday-finishing track plan? And then putting paint on foam or deciding on a backdrop color.

For months I’ve considered doing a late fall/early winter setting (in a suburban/urban environment) and after this last issue of MR, I think that’s what I’m going to do. But I’m considering a “winter gray sky” backdrop color instead of the traditional blue. Open to thoughts/feedback!

    Hey All,

Finally cooling off a bit here in S. Texas. I am planning to start the first section of my Free-mo project for the W&NW, based upon the plan below. A town from the Wichita Sub of the Frisco, Severy KS that interchanged with the Santa Fe. The first section will be the bridge scene on the far right.

    Happy Friday to Y'all,

I'm back - kind of. Our visitors (My Niece and her husband - from Austria) have gone back home. Man, we miss them already.

However, in preparation of our upcoming camping trip (we leave next Saturday), we will be prepping for that trip, this weekend.

So, yet another weekend away from my models

    Y'all have a great weekend,
    Wolf

The past few days have been perhaps the roughest days I have ever experienced at work in my entire life. On Wednesday afternoon there was an explosion involving a generator and fire that burned a construction storage trailer. Six workers were seriously burned. All six were transported to the hospital in critical condition. Four have been told they will be in the hospital for at least a month receiving treatment for their burns. The other two are in intensive care and from what I have been told very bad shape. I was not near the location of the accident as I was in the inspectors’ trailer, which is a mile away doing the end of the day paperwork. I was made aware of the situation when the assistant foreman arrived asking for help. I immediately called 911. I ask for prayers for both the workers and their families.
Here is a link to a news story about the accident: https://6abc.com/manayunk-explosion-flat-rock-road-philadelphia-fire-bomb-squad/13863689/

We plan to work on finishing the outdoor and inside Halloween decorations. Then some general house cleaning. I will need to do laundry so we can pack for our upcoming cruise next week. We will also ave to make runs to the grocery store and probably to Target for some last-minute things. I have already stocked up on pet food. We leave Thursday, taking Acela from 30th Street Philadelphia to Boston. We cruise from Boston to the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) and finish up in Miami.

This weekend I need to put rolling stock away that scattered all over the layout. I basically need to secure the layout since I won’t be there for more than a week. If time permits, I might convert some plastic couplers to Kadee couplers.

Good morning from cloudy and mild Northeast Ohio!

Today, I hope to get some painting done before going to bowling this evening.

Saturday will be going to the club to clean up after the open house and then run some trains. In the evening I will be decaling the cars I painted.

Sunday is laundry and choir practice and I will fill in the time with more decaling.

This is the second time I typed this the website locked up when I went to post.

Late start here today for me. Have not been able to get TB all day until a little while ago, anyone else ?

Saturday I will be visiting a friend about 75 south of me who is building a large N scale layout. I am helping him with some staging yard controls and control panels for. Need to take some notes and photos and work out all the details. Planning on having a nice lunch and visit, should be great fun.

Sunday will be continuing work on the Ntrak staging yard which is progressing slowly but surely.

Always good to visit with a friend. (y) Winter gray sky would be cool and maybe an ominous portent. ;) I love it when a plan comes together! (Frisco rules!) Surely there is a way to take model railroads camping? Very tragic to see coworkers lives so endangered. Ahh, "run some trains". :) (Don't forget, computers make our lives easier.) Fun with a friend. That's what it is all about. :) Last Monday I left for Gulf Shores, Alabama to spend a week and officiate at my daughter's wedding vow and ring exchange. Wedding took place on the beach. Had a great time with my son-in-law's family, grandsons, daughter and son-in-law. On the way down, me and the grandson I was travelling with stopped in Bay Minette at the old depot and took some pics. :) On the way back, we stopped at the train museum in Foley and saw the outdoor prototype train display. I learned that Mr. Foley established the Bay Minette and Fort Morgan Railway that later became part of the L&N. (y) As you might notice, I am on here late due to travel. Have a fine weekend all. :D

Not much planned for this weekend. Few errands to run this morning and may get to the train room later. Lots to get caught up on around the house after travelling this past week so it's going to be a play it as it comes type of Saturday and Sunday.

Hope you all have a great weekend!
