It's almost here! The weekend of course, and with it another chance to get some model railroading done!

Saturday: is the start to my busy railroad weekend. We have a lot going on in the area such as the Decatur Train Fair, Monticello RR Days and my open house. I'll start the day by getting Miss Jessica, the Railfan Jeep, hard top off since it will be in the low 80's all weekend and drive her to my favorite little diner in Decatur for breakfast. From there, I'll attend the Decatur Train Fair and hopefully purchase a few books I'm looking for as well as some desperately needed flat cars and anything else that strikes my fancy. Lunch will be on the road as I railfan the NS from Decatur to Monticello, stopping at interesting points along the way. Once at the museum, I hope to see some new acquisitions such as the PRR N5C caboose they just had donated and the new signal equipment which is now operating. After that, I need to head back to my place and get the last bits of work done around the house before the guys show up for some train operations on the City Job as well as beer, brats, fire pit and classic rock.

Sunday: I'll probably sleep in after the previous nights festivities before heading back to Decatur and the train show. Any time after the show will be spent maybe doing some rail archaeology or working on my new module design. Either way, it should be a fun, action packed weekend.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 18th to see what we accomplished and what happened. Until then, have a great and safe weekend and as always...

    High Greens!

Well, after my semi successful use of my new micro sand blaster/air eraser last weekend. I will attempt to patch my GP-9's. Shouldn't be a big deal, but, ya never know. I also want to add a headlight LED to said GP's, The LED on the DCC board is powering the upper "signal" light. I think I have figured out a way to accomplish it.

Hope y'all have an outstanding weekend,
    Wolf

Football game almost all day tomorrow. 12:20 Kick off which means breakfast tailgating in AM and game in afternoon. Sunday will be all trains. Will be getting homa-bed and cork down, glued and painted. Don't know if it will dry well enough to start getting track down. Also plan on cleaning up a large part of the bench work from loose plywood and 1x scraps. Getting ready for the next big push of main line.

Except for weathering and signs, I've got a couple of main industries complete for Weaver Junction. Now to do the landscaping around them, and figure out the details on lighting. I did order some streetlights this week.

I found a cheap supply of mounts for building lighting - Q-tips! I was lurking around the kitchen accessory area at the supermarket - which is just across from the pharmacy area, and I stopped dead in my tracks in front of the Q-Tips display. I have a couple of hundred at home, so... :D

On the lighting subject, I laid the last wires of the layout, intended for street lighting, today.

Probably the last thing I'll get before starting on scenery is some thin (less than an inch thick) styrofoam to build up some modest relief on my layout before the scenery goes on and the ballasting begins.

That's when my layout will start looking more like a model railroad and less like a messy construction project. Then form will follow function - to date, no issues with engines or rolling stock other than some coupler problems (missing springs or incorrect height).
