Can you believe September is over at the start of this weekend? October is upon us and it's time to start thinking about the many accomplishments we want to get done this weekend. Today I'll be working in the shop to finish up two locomotives, a Rock Island GP7U and an Iowa Interstate GP38-2. I'm hoping to ad them to my e-Bay store this weekend. Work will continue on the D&RGW GP30 now that all the parts have made it in. Grab irons and pilot detail have been added, time to install the nose light, work on the cab and install the fan grills. Saturday, I need to work on the layout by adding another turnout control to one of my industries as well as address a pesky switch or two. I also need to buckle down and build some structures so my half of the City Job doesn't look so abandoned. I've also fixed up a nice Atlas GP35 in Santa Fe livery that has been doing a great job switching the Santa Fe end of the layout. I picked up the DCC equiped locomotive at Galesburg for only $25.00. I re-gauged the wheels, cleaned it up a bit and installed a new TCS decoder. It runs beautifully now. It just so happens that I have a brand new undec GP35 shell and some great images of a few GP35's in BNSF H1 paint that would be appropriate for when I run the City Job by myself in "Early BNSF" era. This one will get the full detail treatment. Sunday has become the "Domestic Duty day" so if I get anything done, it will be mainly day dreaming and maybe a bit of running, we'll see. So how about you? What do you have planned for your first weekend in October? Let us know. We'll assemble once again on Monday, October 3rd and see how we did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe, happy modeling and as always... High Greens!
I'll spend a lot of my Saturday flying back home from Yuma, AZ. I'm not sure how much basement time I'll spend after I get home. I hate flying.
Plans are to put down enough plywood sub-base to connect the City portion of the layout to the staging area and also get some down at the opposite end of the city. That way, I can start laying track next week out of the staging yard and get real w/ this layout. Tomorrow we're going to the NC State - Wake Forest football game. With a 3:30 KO, that eats an entire afternoon considering tailgating. So some plywood going down on each outbound end of Albemarle City is about all that will happen on the layout this weekend. Happy Friday all.
Going to finish a Milwaukee 40' 'Veneer' car. This was a dedicated boxcar built from 40' double door boxcars for plywood service. Also working on a Great Northern 40' steel sided woodchip car. I need to get some grabs to finish this car.
After camping last weekend -- I hope to get more ground cover done this weekend -- let's hope. Hope ya'll have a great weekend, Wolf
I've already installed more Sergent couplers on about 40+ cars, i should be able to convert the rest of the rolling stock this weekend and still have a couple pairs of the sergents left. I would like to continue adding more risers and subroadbed up around the bottom of the helix, maybe i can get out to the shed and cut more risers this evening?
Working on an HO D&RGW SD45 (Ath RTR). Just getting started. Bent up the brake cyl piping (.019 brass wire) drilled out the brake cyl's used wire insulation for the rubber hoses between the piping and cyls then the speed recorder on the Eng'r side #2 axle. Thanks for looking
Success! Most of the layout-ready cars now are Sergent-equipped (150-ish??). I also extended the sub roadbed out to the helix and starting around the outside of it. Picture quality is poor, cell phone quality. Excuse the mess, (rail)road work ahead! Sent from my PantechP8010 using Tapatalk
