We're back after a short week for most of us. Time to start with the planning of what we want to get done with our favorite hobby. Saturday: With the house to myself and all the material to build the Galesburg City Job Module Mk.III, I'm hoping to start construction. I tested my new Dremel tool router table the other night and it works perfect for the plans I have. I'll try to take pictures as I go but no promises. I tend get started on a project and usually just plow on through. I also need to clean the layout room and get ready for next weekends train extravaganza. I've picked up a few new 1970's era freight cars to expand the operations a bit. Sunday: is supposed to be nice, so it will probably be more of a day spent with my two favorite girls, Angela and Jess. With Jared in college, we are now able to get all those pesky domestic duties out of the way during the week, so now there is more time for relaxing and train activities. Any spare time will be spent making up new switching lists and if the bulk of the new module gets built, producing a shopping list of track and other supplies for it. So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Structure work, track work, maybe some painting? Let us know. We'll assemble once again on Monday the 11th. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and as always... High Greens!
Well, we will have our wonderful Granddaughter over night - tonight. So, nothing will get done tomorrow. Perhaps Sunday, I can get back to my GP-9 project. Finishing off the DCC installs. And, start the lettering back date project on them. I have an air eraser on order. Hope to receive it tomorrow. Here is one of the GP-9s Hope Y'all have a great weekend. Wolf
Jim... enjoy the Dremel tool. Several weeks ago I put in gaps in several places on my mainline in anticipation of signaling down the road. I dug out a flex shaft Dremel I've had for 20+ years and never really used. It was perfect for the task. I have to start using the Dremel tools more. This weekend I plan on putting down the rest of the plywood necessary to complete the "Y" lead in/out of my staging yard. I have the yard set up so trains can leave/enter either west or east bound depending which leg of the "Y" is used. If the stars align on time available, I may get homabed put down and sealed as well. I'm sure I'll get distracted with a few workbench tasks. Last tomorrow afternoon we're heading out to tailgate for an evening football game, so all won't be totally dedicated to the train room. We shall see come Monday AM.
I ordered some Shapeways parts for my MoPac GP38-2. Couldn't find any of the correct spark arrestors for it. The prototype has four. I think it already has a plow, so I need to find a radio antenna and cab wind deflectors. I also ordered a bunch of decals for upcoming projects. I need to renumber my WP U23B because the number that I have was never painted in WP's "New Image" scheme.
This is the prototype MP #874 http://www.trainweb.org/screamingeagle/other/berglund/mp874.jpg And here is the prototype WP #2254, a full four years after the WP/UP merger: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3256854
I forgot to mention that I finally ordered the decals to model one of Burlington's premerger paint schemes. Now to find an N Scale SD45 or U23C. http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/cbq/cbq0530gea.jpg http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/cbq/cbq467afg.jpg
