Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a good short week and are ready to get back into the swing of model railroading. Let's get started.

Saturday: Originally, I was to be in New Hampshire by now, however the chance to find a last-minute deal on a round trip ticket by airline changed the schedule. The airfare was cheaper than the rental car and gas and because I have done the 19-hour drive twice this summer, I was ready for change. With Dad home and doing better, we could wait on the winter projects a week. This allows me an extra week in Illinois so for the first time in a while, I have a weekend off. I'll probably clean up the workshop as it is still a mess from when I left for the St. Louis RPM in July.

Sunday: I plan to spend some time with the wife and will probably go antique shopping with her or a nice dinner out. Any time left over will be spent getting things ready for the fall and winter. This will be mainly yard prep but also, I hope to start working on the HO layout once again when I return from NH in late September.

So how about you? What do you have planned for this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 11th to see how we did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Saturday I’ve got one of my daughter’s soccer games to watch. I need to do some chores that piled up, get a haircut, do a little gardening, and get to work on some boat maintenance.

Sunday I think I’ll rest for a bit and finish up my track plan. I need to clean up the workbench too-last weekend all my structure kits exploded during my track planning session as I took measurements and looked at how I wanted to kitbash things.

Happy Friday all! Ready for the workday to end! For the first time in a long time, I don't think the wife has anything planned for the weekend. With luck we will just stay home all weekend. There are a lot of in progress projects on my workbench so I have plenty I can do this weekend.
After work this afternoon, I will head down to the workbench and get another coat of paint on a few items.
Saturday, it will be get up, make a cup of coffee, check emails, start a load of laundry, and then head down to the train room and see what I can do. The usual start will be to get more coffee brewing, turn on a rail cam or a RR DVD, start a train or two rolling on the layout and then turn my attention to the workbench. With the paint dry from Friday evening, I should be able to continue work on the pipe load I am doing. I should be able to re assemble the two boxcars I am adding loads to. I have one last boxcar that I know I want to add a load to so I'll dig it out and get it started and then work some more on the M/T Grain Bin load since all the parts should be painted and dry. Will continue work on the Royal Models grain trailers I have in progress as well. After that, it's probably back upstairs for a late lunch, more laundry work and who knows after that.
Sunday will hopefully be a repeat. We have a pretty normal routine for Sunday mornings and it's a good one but the wife and I both agree it might be good to just stay home this week. Maybe a nap would be good Sunday afternoon too. Hmmmm?

Hope you all have a great weekend!

    TGIF to Y'all!!

In preparation of my Niece's visit, I will be cleaning up my work station. And - the rest of the house. (What a daunting task - on both counts). We've been a bit lax in our house keeping.

    Y'all have a great weekend,
    Wolf

Well, my plans have been changing daily all week, so I'm going to hold any kind of planning rather loosely. My wife was scheduled to return from her visit with our son and new daughter-in-law last Sunday but got a migraine Saturday and hasn't been able to travel. A trip to the ER on the advice of her primary care doctor, some meds, and a new prescription or two, and it sounds as if things are finally returning to something approaching normal. If that holds, I'll drive up to Cleveland Airport late tonight for 11:00 pm. arrival.

Otherwise, my plan for today, Friday, is to walk the dogs and do homework.

My plan for Saturday... is homework (assuming that i didn't finish on Friday)..

Sunday is, of course, church, followed by the monthly business meeting of the Sebring Model Railroad Club. Afterward, if the layout isn't too busy, a couple of us will continue track laying at our new port facility. We have more confidence in our direction as one of the designers of this remodel made an appearance on Tuesday, and we hashed out most of our uncertainties.

If time permits, I also hope to start storing some accumulated train stuff in plastic totes and removing that pile from a basement corner that I promised SWMBO (she who must be obeyed) to clean up.

Friday. Always an awesome day. This weekend I will be able to work on modeling maybe this afternoon and Sunday. Saturday we are going to the NC State-Notre Dame football game. With KO at noon, that will surely eat up the whole day with tailgating starting around 8:30AM. HOPEFULLY State can hang w/ the Irish and we're at the stadium for the full game. Don't want to be tempted to leave early.

Sunday the goal will be to progress some freight car projects that have been on the back burner for WAY too long of a time. Maybe roll out some more puff ball trees and get them ready for painting/ground foam. Always a need for them.

@Jim Wiggin Dad home and doing better... AWESOME!

Everyone have a good and peaceful weekend.

Good morning from cloudy and warm Northeast Ohio!

Friday, took the wife to the dermatoligist office this morning for a rash on her cheek that won't go away. Later we are taking the dog in for shots but we are having the cat put down, she is 20 years old and based on an article I read in the Washington Post has been suffering from dementia for the last year which leads to a not good quality of life. Will also do some painting on completed cars today along with going bowling tonight.

Saturday, will be going to the club along with working on a little substation for the club layout at home this evening along with some decaling.

Sunday, have to do the laundry and we will be going to choir practice to get ready for the Christmas concert. Also continue work on the decals and I hope to finish up the substation for installation at the club next week.

    Good morning everyone,

Just about caught up with things around the house after our recent trip. One of the cats has a check-up appointment this morning. Been getting bids for some new fencing around the back yard and some trimming of plants in the yard will be needed so that work can get started.

In the train room I plan to start working on new control circuits for the Ntrak club's staging yard and the last of the tunnel portals for the home layout.

Hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.

Dad home and doing better. Great news! Structure kits exploded! (P.S. Get the soccer team to help with the model railroad.) "I don't think the wife has anything planned..." Friend, I love your optimism. (y) I am the mayor of "lax housekeeping." :cautious: Obedience = wisdom. (y) I am also the mayor of back burner. (I think I have too many mayorships.) Sad. Pets are like family. Portals away! :) I have been working on the Hull house diagram. It is not complete. However, this will be put aside in order to build much needed passenger cars. The railway management is hearing complaints that passengers are tired of riding in boxcars. Hard floors and other things. Also, sometimes bindle-stiffs find a new bowler or other hat and when they sit next to passengers are not always noticed by the Bull/Conductor. :sneaky: Can't have unpaid ridership. Have a great weekend. :D

The heat and humidity seems to be finally breaking this evening. It was supposed to start yesterday morning. Weather forecasters... More like guessers...

I discovered a loose ground throw on a spur that I'll take care of this weekend. MOW like the 1:1 guys!

Today, Friday, I received my second back injection this morning and I have been dealing with the after affects of the twilight anesthesia all day. At times I feel full of energy and at others I will fall sleep no matter where I am. My back does not hurt, so that is good. First bit of relief in a couple of months.

This weekend I will probably drive to Delaware and get gas. I have some grocery shopping to do. There is even some of the evil laundry to take care of. There are a few yard projects and house projects, but I need to be careful as there is no heavy lifting allowed for the weekend.

Depending on how I feel and my energy level I have roadbed to glue, and track to tack down. I am hoping the feeders arrive this weekend so I can work on the wiring. If I have a really good weekend the double track main line will be done and wire with four power districts and I can resume running trains.

Rick, deeply sorry to hear about your cat. We are too dealing with a 17-year-old cat that may have dementia. We are working with our vet on her health.

Well the heat broke last weekend and is back again just in time to reduce progress on the garage layout. At least it's only 100 from about 11 to 6 so there may be some time in the evening or early am. I hope to glue down the roadbed sheet on the upper section for the Indio side of staging(photo upper right) and draw out the yard ladders. I need three more #8 turnouts for the west end of the mainline(photo lower left) so may work inside to build those. I have to admit that I am tiring of building turnouts.

Anything beyond the above will be a bonus.

Model Railroading is fun when expectations of progress are realistic.

Perhaps not this weekend, but definitely throughout the week, I 3D printed a pile of crossarms for telegraph poles. I need to paint them and install on posts. I'll be in a hotel room, so plenty of time.
